I will preface this list by saying that I know full well that many of the units in this list are not considered competitive and I'm ok with that. I like the idea of dropping the hammer on my opponent turn two and I feel like this list *might* be capable of doing this. And, it will be fun to just place my HQ and say "done!" during deployment.

HQ:

Swarmlord
Tyrant Guard
Tyranid Prime w/ LW, Bonesword, Scything Talons, Regeneration, Toxin Sacs

- idea here is to roll for Gate of Infinity and Iron Arm (rolling Gate first). Prime tanks the heavy guns and tries to regen. Majority toughness will still be determined by the Swarmlord.

Troops:

7+1 Genestealers w/ Broodlord (rolling on Biomancy most likely)

7+1 Genestealers w/ Broodlord (rolling on Biomancy most likely)

7+1 Genestealers w/ Broodlord (rolling on Biomancy most likely)

5 Warriors w/ dual Boneswords and Devourers + 1 Barbed Strangler in a Pod

5 Warriors w/ dual Boneswords and Devourers + 1 Barbed Strangler in a Pod

Elites:

Deathleaper

2x Lictors

7 Ymgarls

Everything should come in on turn two unless my Swarmlord dies first turn. Stealers will be 12-18" away first turn so should join the strike turn two. The podded warriors hopefully will add to the second wave to mop up the ground forces. There are a ton of weaknesses for this army (fliers, armor, etc.) but hey, it would be fun! Let me know what you think and if there are any changes you would suggest that would fit the idea (doesn't need to be competitive necessarily).

You just get bored rolling the same old 2x Flyrant, 2x Tervigon, HG, Doom list week in week out you know!

Cheers!

Is this list actually valid?

I thought half the army had to be placed during deployment and that doesn't include Infiltrators?

Reminds me of my friend's list. Somehow he started the game with only a Mawloc on the field last time. He had so much reserve/deep striking stuff it was ridiculous. I think the "50 %" rule gets messed up when it comes to special rules and stuff. I swear he explained to me how it worked, but I can't explain it right now.

Of course if I kill his Mawloc first turn he looses, but that didn't happen since he stuck it behind a big LOS blocking chunk of building.

Like watching other people play video games (badly) while blathering about nothing in particular? Check out my Youtube channel: joemamaUSA!

Units that must be in reserves don't count for the "50 %", and units and their dedicated transport count as 1 unit for the "50 %".
So he can place most of the army in drop pods and it would be legal, with only 2 or 3 units that count to the "50 %", so the Mawloc is the 50% placed on deployment and the HQ, which should had been a Flyrant and maybe another non drop pod deep-striking unit like a Trygon, in reserves with the rest of the army in drop pods.
