I would make the chapter master a captain and take a rhino, split the 10 man squad into combat squads and put the flamer squad in the rhino with the captain, sit the scouts and other combat squad behind the aegis and shoot the enemy as they move to counter the rhino captain threat.

I should have mentioned that I am splitting into combat squads. Also my reasoning for the chaper master is to allow the orbital bombardment which is a highly effective tool for removal of entire armies. But thanks for the reply

You know you can take a command rhino for 65pts that has orb bombardment plus +/- reserves and homing beacon rules in IA 6
Personnely I'd drop the bombardment tho, if it scatters it's a big waste of PTs in such a small game.

I playtested the captain and the rhino there a few times, it seems to be much less effective against necrons and eldar but slightly better against tau. To me the bonuses outweigh the loss.
EDIT:also is remains the same against my 500 points of Chaos Marines

A relic blade would be useful, but i don't know if at this point level, you'd want to put too many points on the chap master

Boys before toys. If you can get more units on the board by dropping the chapter master to a captain, that would be better. Bombardment is nice but you could achieve the same thing with enough shots from more units. The aegis line is also unnecessary at 500 points as the odds of there being flyers that you need to worry about at that point level are low.

I'd say lose the ADL and swap out the chapter master for a libby. Get some more scouts or a 5 man tac squad. Ditch the flamer for a plasma gun.
I don't have my codex so the numbers will be off
epistolary libby: 150 Points
10 man sniper scouts with camo cloaks: 170 points
10 man tac marine squad with plasma gun and missile launcher: 180 points
500 even. If the numbers are off by 5 or so points, a melta bomb is always a good thing to fill the voided points.
