Hey Dakka, I'm new to playing Nids, but know a lot about them and have played against them a little. I'm looking to make a very competitive list that I will begin practicing for a tournament. I know what I have so far is pretty cookie cutter but I could use some help from experienced Nid players on how to fill it out and any advice against Tau, Eldar, and Necron lists. Thanks!

HQ:
Flygrant, 2x Devourers, Old Ad- 285
Flygrant, 2x Devourers- 260

Elite:
Doom, pod- 130

Troops:
Tervigon, catalyst, ts- 185
Tervigon, catalyst, ts- 185
10x Termagants- 50
10x Termagants- 50

Fast Attack:
20x Gargoyles, ts - 140
Total: 1285
I'd like to use a least one Tyrgon or Mawloc ( maybe 2 mawlocs, seems better than one). I also really like Gargoyles and was considering increasing their numbers or running two groups of 20. Thanks for any cc

Pretty basic list, I don't run Old adversary simply because my flyrants are rarely near other units and since they are already twin linked I don't see the cost in it. YMMV. I do tend to run Hive Commander so that I know my reserves are coming in as soon as possible.

My current list has: ( going off of memory
3 Hive guard
2 zoans in a spore

3 powers ts and talons on my two tervigons

1 trygon with TS

My Hiveguard seem to be hit and miss, I used to run biovores but took them out for the same reason. With all the ADL action I might have to revisit them though.

Whats the reason to run TS on tyrgon? I thought he already has 3 sets of talons?

How do you like to run/ use your gargoyles, with adrenal glands too?

How do you get three powers on a tervigon, both up catalyst and onslaught?

I run the TS on the Trygons for the re-rolls to wound in CC. Poison rule lets you re-roll wounds in CC if your S is > = their S.

I use to run my gargoyles all pumped up, but since I use them for a bubble wrap, I lose 10 or more in most cases.. so I stripped them down bare... if I had to give them a buff, it would be TS.

You are correct, you come with 1 power and you buy two more. gives you some fair luck on the biomancy table.

If you are planning on Mawlocs, the taking Hive Commander on your Flyrant instead of Old Adversary is a must. Also, its very help getting the Doom in to do its think ASAP.

I was thinking about adding two mawlocs with ts, 2 biovores, and a third power to one of my tervigons for a 1750 point list. How does that look? Reading the rules does it make more sense to just start the Mawlocs on the board turn one, especially if there is night fight, because then they just burrow and automatically come in?

Trygons > Mawlocs.

Also Toxin Sacs on them gives you an answer for things like Wraithknights.

I think, as bugs, you need to decide whether you are a maximum threat overload build or a board control build. If MTO, take 1-2 tervigons, and outflank 30
Hormagaunts with HC + gargoyles + trygons + flyrants + doom pod. If board control, take 3 tervigons, biovores, flyrants, Zoanthropes, hive guard.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.

Preferably, i like carnifexes they can be armed to the teeth with shots or even set up as melee units, but because they are MCS i would suggest the shooty ones. you can have 12 twin linked str 6 shots per dakkavex. now tell me thats not dakka....other then that it looks like a standard list.

Thinking I'll try adding a tervigon with Ts, 3 hive guard, a third power to one tervigon, and 8 ymgarl genestealers for 1850. Seems like a normal but competitive list. I don't have hormagants but ymgarl should fill a similar role. Any tips on how to fight tau with this list? Is it still important to take out marker lights first, then maybe troops and try to win with objectives? That's my usually tactics with my orks.
