So my brother and I have themed our most recent armies to go around a fluff story and I decided to share it with you guys and see what you all think.
The planet Feyros Prime is a large world covered it rolling sand dunes and huge canyons. It was colonized by the Imperium late in the great Crusade and became a substantial Hive World in the years to come, becoming home to Billions of civilians in its large, towering cities. The planet continued to grow in population and it became an important recruiting world for the Dark Angels.
In the Aftermath of the heresy the world suffered. Being cut off from the imperium for to long had its effects, and the population began to dwindle. Entire cities were abandoned. The citizens of Feyros Prime suffered raids from slavers, Orks, Eldar Pirates and others. The citizens of the planet adapted to this way of life, and they formed a tough militia group that was able to defend the planet against most threats...
Until WAAAGH! Gorshak arrived at Feyros Prime. Even though Gorshak commanded a relatively small Waaagh by ork standards, it was still far to large for the locals of Feyros to have a hope of defending themselves. As the first space hulks began to appear on the horizon, and it seemed as if all was lost, the Emperor chose that moment to bring the lost world of Feyros Prime back into the fold of the Imperium. Help arrived in the form of the space marines of the (still unnamed

) chapter. Being successors to the dark angels, they new of the planet and had been tasked with reclaiming it.
Upon seeing the ork force, the chapter master signaled for help, but none came. Realizing they were on their own for this fight the adeptus astartes deployed their forces into all areas of the planet not yet claimed by warlord Gorshak. What came next was an unending tide of slaughter between the two forces. The orks suffered horrendous casualties from orbital bombardment, but the space marines and local militia also suffered heavy losses. The chapter master was slain and the chief librarian took command of the imperial forces
Eventually both forces retreated. The space marines into the hive cities, where they began so set up defenses. And the orks into the endless deserts, where they licked their wounds and prepared for the right moment to strike again. For many years to come, the astartes commanded and the ork warlord would continue to trade victories, constantly out thinking the other. After a decade of brutal fighting. The space marines have been reduced to just over 2 companies in fighting strength, and the orks have lost countless boyz to bolter and chainsword. Soon, one faction will finally be able to topple the other and claim Feyros Prime for themselves.
I know its not perfect but (i need a way to explain why after a decade no help has arrived from the imperium, if you have any ideas please share) having this back story makes games SO much more enjoyable. It really gives character to your matches, models and even your board. I honestly think everyne should take the time to come up with a backstory for your army, then build and paint them based on that backstory.
Btw, if you were wondering im the ork player, my brother is the space marines.
Thanks for reading! Hope you liked it!
