Ok, here is a list with the new eldars I would like some advice on.

Its got a forward force, a defensive branch and some dudes that can do either.

The defensive branch is :

85 1x Aegis Defense Line - Icarus Lascannon
210 1x Avatar - Fast Shot - Night Vision
165 1x Wraithlord - 2x Bright Lance - Ghost Glaive
108 9x Rangers

guys that can do either is :

210 3x War Walkers - each have 1x Scatter laser and 1x Starcannon
210 3x War Walkers - each have 1x Scatter laser and 1x Starcannon

And the Forward force is :

115 1x Farseer - Jetbike
183 9x Windrider jetbike Guardian - 3x Shuriken Cannon
122 6x Windrider jetbike Guardian - 2x Shuriken Cannon
122 6x Windrider jetbike Guardian - 2x Shuriken Cannon
180 1x Crimson Hunter - Exarch
152 8x Warp Spiders
133 7x Warp Spiders

Total 1995pts

the Avatar uses the Icarus Lascannon ans shoots twice with it and the Farseers sticks with the bigger team of jetbikes (was considering giving the seer the mantle but I prefer keeping the points to get an extra warp spider and upgrade the crimson hunter to an exarch since he is just as if not more protected by being in a team, I find any ignore cover weapons ( tau, noise marines, wave serpents) can hurt him too easily if the only protection he has is the mantle.

I think I might be a bit light on heavy Anti Vehicule weapons, I have lots of Str6 shots but AV 13-14 could be a problem since I only have the double Icarus Lascannon shot, 2x Bright lance shots and the Crimson Hunter exarch for those. And close combat attacks from the Avatar and Wraithlord
Warp spiders can glance AV13 I suppose...maybe I should take one of the teams of War Walkers as Bright Lance wielders.

What do you think Dakkanaughts?

I think at the cost of one Warwalker that Wraithlord turns into a Wraithknight and become much more powerful and flexible in this list. Joining your forward contingent for mass chaos and knee jerk defensive reactions from your opponent.

I wouldn't use the Avatar as defense, let him man the Icarus until T2 Intercept is done, then let him advance ore stay back as needed. Let one of your objective camper take over. Maybe a Ranger with a 3+ Cover save behind the Aegis.

Up to you I would probably just make the WW scatterlasers you can guide and prescience them from farseer

I agree it is a little light

I would nix the rangers down to 5, they are just objective campers anyway, nix the wraithlord and take another squad of WW brightlances all - that would give you tank killers and termie killers and you Avatar can protect them.. just my opinion..

I kind of want to force the opponent to come to the aegis defense line by making it a nasty enough damage dealer that he cant just ignore it, and that would be when the CC might of the Avatar and Wraithlord would come in handy.
I can always make them walk forward if I need to but i would love to force him to separate his force to have one fighting my forward advance force and another trying to deal with the defense line since then I can really use my superior mobility to take him appart.
the Wraithknight instead of the Wraithlord is definitely a good idea but the price tag on the knight is kinda nasty and i already have a wraithlord thats painted

The Twilight Zone

Since you have the 5 points spare, give your farseer a singing spear. Interesting use of the avatar, but It seems rather expensive...although it could be very effective.

The most important rule of 40K-Page XVII of the 6th edition rulebook, the figure at the top right of the page. "Shake hands with your opponent and thank them for a good battle and fun experience." Then go out for a beer.

My Avatar defending my Aegis just got pummeled and IDed by Typhus in a unit of Plague Marines....... didn't go as well as I wanted! Took 3 rounds of combat to kill the Sergeant in a Challenge!

well that was how many points of dudes charging your avatar? surely alot more then 210pts, and they were footslogging so you got to shoot at them for a while before they got to you im sure, how did they even reach is my question?

I'll tell you the truth...I just don't see the avatar as a good defenceive unit. He's meant for cc, so why not rush forward? I mean, I csn see the fast shot part about it, but rangers should do fine, and avatar will do better in cc.

as mentionned before I mean to make the Aegis defense line be such a powerfull damage dealer that he has to deal with it, this is not just an objective holder.
consider being shot at by 6 scatter laser (24 Str6 shots) 6 Star Cannon (12 TL Str6 ap2 shots ) 2 Icarus lascannon (str9 ap2 BS10 shots with Skyfire and interceptor) 2 Bright lances (str8 Ap2 lance shots) and 9x 36" Sniper shots from this area.
you cannot allow this to shoot at your army without any repercusion cuz you wont last long, and out ranging it isnt that much of an option as all shots are 36" range or more. Shooting it isnt much of an option due to a 4+or 3+ cover save with lots of wounds (or hull points) and 2 of the dudes being monstrously tough (being monstrous creatures).
only Tau could have a chance at dislodging that and only if they really try hard, maybe exceedingly optimized on shooting list in other armies could pull this off but I figure very few armies would really be able to do this.
what options are left for all the other list which arent single purposed towards shooting? The answer is : Charging.
which is when the close combat might of the wraithlord and the Avatar will come in very handy
