Hello All,

I am keep to play some Infinity on my newly made 6 piece 2' x 2' modular terrain board.

I'd like to proxy in my 40k minis because I'm a big fan of the 40k universe (not so much the rules) but I hate the idea of pointing to a Space Marine and saying he is some sort of anime PanOceania whatever.

I would like to play 40k using Infinity's great rules but retain the unique identity of all the 40k units.

Anyways, so I did my research and created a google doc spreadsheet that converts Units from 40k rules to Infinity rules. I am doing my best to convert all the USR to Skills too.

No knowledge of 40k rules would be required to play, just Infinity. I even have point value conversions.

So far I got some Dark Angels done; I will do Chaos Space Marines, Tyranids, and Tau also.

If people are interested in this please let me know. I'm debating if it is really worth my time. If people wanted to help/proof my Skill conversions and Point values I'd also be open to inviting in editors.

This would forever render Kill-Teams type 40k games useless. So badass.

Plox paste the sheet. I can have a look and if they are totally bad/OP, I'll let you know .

It's a nice idea though. I'll read it and can even roll some dice to check it out some point.

OT: The 6'x4' board is a little too big for Infinity though.

Forever a pone.

While it is a neat idea and bring tried before a few times to say the least. One of the biggest isuee with a 40K conversions is the limited unit choose of 40K, sadly if you converted every 40K unit you might (thats a big might) have as many choose and playstyles as 1 Infinity faction. I know you don't want to point a 40K model and say it PanO unit, but really a link team from PanO MO plays more like Space Marine squad in the fluff then Space Marines (funny really).

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

Sounds like Infinity will be right up your alley then.

Yup, I only plan to use 4 2' x 2' squares for infinity.

Yeah Infinity looks great. I just think it would be awesome to be able to incorporate the 40k universe as well.

Actually everything converts over pretty well. If you know both rule sets and the 40k fluff its easy enough to decide what skills make sense. I just don't know infinity well enough to be confident in my skill selections or pt values.

Ideally, if there is interest, I'll PM the Doc Access Link to edit it. If we can crowd source edits we can get all the codecs done pretty quick. Also, we can try our best to balance things.

As far as a lack of variety of units... I must disagree. Even for your basic Tactical Marine there is ~10 iterations with different weapons or veteran status.

The two biggest differences with 40k are the vehicles and Psychers. I think the best course of action for the vehicles is to only bring over the most basic vehicles (Rhinos, Hammerheads, etc) and just forget the rest.

As for Psychers... I'm less sure. I'm thinking Force Weapons should be Monofiliment Weapons to make up for less emphasis on psychic attacks. Also, I'm thinking Psychers can take on basic Hacker/Engineer roles too due to High WIP.

As for Psychic abilities themselves: I'm debating including one per Psycher as a Long Skill to keep things simple. I'm not sure for now. I think I'll deal with Pyshcers once I get some playtests under my belt.

So heres the link:

I had a quick look and at first impression your cc stats are way too low for space marines. It looks like you have multiplied everything by 3 with is on the right track but doesn't translate very well. CC gods are around 17-19 in infinity so Azrail needs to be higher than 15, maybe chuck in MA3 or Beserkas well

Basic human bs and ph are 9ish so having a space marine at ph 12 is too low, 14 would be better. Also I can understand why you have given space marines 2 wounds but at 28 points they are too cheap. Two wound models in infinity are generally 40-50 and even higher depending on load out. Maybe regular space marines could have dogged or NWI instead of two wounds or maybe even total immunity?

In regards to special skills, all space marines need the Morat and religious troop special rule. I think both of these would be similar to "and they shall know no fear"

This is a very ambitious project and I wish you good luck. I did have a bit of a laugh when you said "unique identity" in relation to 40k though

For vehicles, I'd keep them out. You're converting a skirmish level game, and vehicles really have no place in it. TAGs are in Infinity because they're not vehicles, they're powered armour weapons platforms - think along the lines of a Dreadknight (quite apt, as some TAGs even have someone inside them, just not as dumb as the babycarrier).

I'd limit vehicles to walkers and any Monstrous Creatures around that category. At the very most, Riptides and Dreadknights. Wraithknights are far too big, for Eldar, their 'TAG' would be a Wraithlord.

For the small, densely packed playing field you're looking at, even light vehicles like transports wouldn't be used. Troops would get out long beforehand, as areas that densely packed with terrain are pure death for a conventional vehicle.

Nerm86: Thank you very much for your input. I've made changes along those lines. If you would like to help with this project I could send you the link to make live edits. I would greatly appreciate your aid and expertise.

Loki: Yeah good call. I'm limiting it to Dreadnought size models. I can use the Rhino as part of a scenario.

The doc is not hot. Make edits as you please. If we all do a little tweaking we could have 10 more infinity factions to play with...

Update:

I am about 80% done the Chaos Space Marine Codex and vastly prefer how I approached this one over the Dark Angel Codex. Thus, I will go back and re-do the Dark Angel Codex with these formula.

The main difference is that Weapons Stats are all calculated instead of just guessed. Also, each model will have a list of weapons it may equip and they pay extra for any not marked (*).

Please comment in the comment section and feel free to help out!

So, besides psychic powers, the CSM codex is done.

I played a quick 50pt vs 50pt DA vs CSM match (actually 5) and have decided the conversion works!

More to come!

Though.... the Chaos Lord w/ Plasma Pistol TOTALLY kicked the 2 DA SM w/ Boltguns ass 4 out of 5 times. Not sure if this balance really matters at the 50pt vs 50pt mark.

Hey pittedpanda

I like what youre doing here. Im doing a similar 40k to infinity conversion but i dont want to hijack your thread. id love to hear your opinion on what ive done too.

Just throwing out some ideas for your chaos sm : )
- maybe give huron the strategos skill
- inspiring leadership for the dark apostle
- NWI for plague marines
- 6th sense for noise marines maybe. With their heightened senses
- spotter on 1k sons seems odd.
- i feel your stats for marines are slightly too low but its up to you.
- no cheap order generators so it might be hard to make a full 10 order list. Maybe make cultists regular?

Posting from my phone atm.
Ill post more later when i can get a proper look at it : )

Wallynut, Just posted in your thread. Looks good dude.

Yes, Strategos for Huron. Good Call.

Yes, IL for DA.

NWI for plauge marines is tough, i already gave them plague knifes which are hella intense.

Yes to noise marines.

Spotter... weird I don't remember doing that. I wanted them to be REM controlled by the aspiring sorcerer. Seemed cool.

Yeah its a balance point thing. I wanted head room for terminators, and special characters. The perfect test of balance would be a 40k vs PanOcenia battle at 200+ points.

I thought about it. I think low orders will be the weakness for SM and CSM codexes... and I think I'm ok with that. Not sure yet though...

Actually I just wrote a battle report:

So I just finished a 150pt game with my dad and I have to say it went really well.

Please consult attached Roster for more information about the Model Stats Used.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B9xtsamOI97ENWRBOTRkZXMtRUk/edit?usp=sharing (Changed slightly, was only 1 chosen and 5 cultists with special weapons. I'll be using this list next time)

Scenario:

Dark Angels in far reaching sector receive telecom that a previously virus bombed planet (damned populace would not comply) has been reported as bioactive once again. Brother Sgt Geoff of the Deathwing remarks he would like to see first hand what animals are roaming as he was the Brother Bro that pressed the button to deploy that horrible device only 14 years prior.

En route, a psychic intuition is pressed force-ably into his mind that some evil is left stored in the data-slates of the capital city. Perhaps some evil was unknowingly silenced when they non-complying people were erased. Whatever the reason, Brother Sgt Geoff decides to land in the former capital to investigate.

[3 VP for hacking Data-slate]
[2 VP for exploring all 6 2' x 2' tiles]
[1 VP for each surviving model]

Meanwhile, hateful cultists argue who will run their blades across their gut in sacrifice. While the Chosen overseeing them knows his life is worth more than this petty act and points out Carl, the most pathetic voiced man he'd ever heard. He was tired of his voice and any blood would do.

The cultists where brought down from the planets abandoned moon mining colony by a traveling Chaos Space Marine Regiment. They where brought here to spill blood where a once mighty Helbrute had fallen 2 millennia ago. The dark gods would favor such a sacrifice.

[2 VP for Sacrifice (WIP) of Cultist to Helbrute Wreckage -> All LI/MI gain CH: Camoflague]
[1 VP for each unit surviving]

[4 Turns Max]
[At the end of any turn after (non-inclusive) the dataslate is hacked the DA player may teleport back up to their ship ending the game]

Deployment:
[DA win choice and choose edge right near data-slate and deploy both tactical marines nearby]
[CSM place cultists near Hebrute Wreckage and the Chosen & Chaos Lord up front near a bombed out ruin]
[DA win Initiative]

Turn 1:
-----DA Turn------
DA maneuvers closer to dataslate.

They are surprised to see some locals but welcome the spread of humanity. Life is good.

Both Terminators teleport in to the two highest points. ARO fire is limited by the puny pistol weapons the CSM are equiped with. Just many *tings* ring off their powerful armour.

----CSM Turn-----

The Powerful Choas Lord presses directly forward, surprised by the appearance of their hated brothers. He draws his Force Sword and it fires blue flames. He knows only to cut them down.

Chosen Bro Brotherbro slinks through the wreckage unknown to the DA and dreams to himself of all the blood he will soak his lightning claws in.

Turn 2:
-----DA-----
A Lord!!! Yells the Marine holding the Heavy Bolter. Surprised by the blazened attack he lays down suppressing fire and wounds the Lord Twice. His shooting is good today.

The Terminators know something is wrong and move closer to see what those locals are up to.

The Melta Bro survays the land, seeminly the only bro to remember his mission.

----CSM-----
The locals are really evil Cultists!

After spilling their blood to choas, which is welcomed by their newly flickering apperance, the take shots at the terminator. AROs keep missing! Dark gods laugh.

The chosen speculates to lob a smoke grenade into the firelane to help the Lord escape his terrible position. He misses and the grenade instead becons his own advance. He runs stomping loudly towards the dataslate each step gets quieter though, and as he passes through the smoke he dissapears. The DA assume he is hiding in the smoke.

Turn 3:
----DA-----
"FIRE" Geoff yells! The sound of 200 IG is captured in the raw firepower of 2 storm bolters and the massive Heavy Bolter.

The Chaos Lord falls with 2 more bullets obliterating his skull and brain afterwards. He is left mush... unimpressive to Khorne.

Finally, the hacking breaks through and the dataslate is uploaded. Too much combat to really read the file, but thre is something about a plan to house a dark portal in the depths of the planets moon mines.

----CSM-----
Actually much closer than they thought, the Chosen climbs up to the Heavy Bolters position and engages. As he climbs he takes a bolter round to the gut but then slices the marine thoroughly. Sgt Geoff knows his defensible position is compromised and he jumps off the platform.

A flickering wave of cultists, wry with their newfound power, advance and take odd shots. Onceslipps into the visor of the terminator on overwatch. He falls and the melta marine panicks.

Turn 4:
-----DA-----
The melta marine valiantly rushes around a corner and heat from his gun rips through the flickering cultist closest too him. The rest run.

The scales tip but Sgt Geoff knows he must suvey the land and avoid the chosen so he runs.

----CSM-----
The cultists run to squander their new power. They are safely ahead of the melta marine. They care not of their fallen comrades and Lt (lord).

Just barely in control of the situation (6 to 5VP) the Chosen contemplates moving to lead his cultists. It is a short thought, trounced by the promise putting his claws their the back of a Veteran Sgt Terminator. He presses forward and closes the distance without Sgt Geoff knowing until he hear the last two steps. He instinctively steps back, saving his face from dropping to the floor by 3cm. Luckily his training is immense and those steps following naturally with a sweep of his power-sword. The concept of mortality only enters the Chosen's mind as his head rolls to the floor.

Sgt Geoff and the unnamed meltamarine teleport back to the ship. Its time to gather the ranks and bring vengeance to the traitor scum who have seemingly taken home in this system. Next stop: Moon IIX
