Hey so the castellax battle-automata by forgeworld finally got pre-released. I'm absolutely loving the mechanicum minis and recently ordered a group of thallax soldiers. However, these guys are as beautiful as they are expensive, anyone have any ideas for good parts to use for a scratchbuild?
I think plasticard could take care of the legs and arms but the torse/head...hmmm, having trouble with the scale. ideas?

Looks very much like something from the Mechwarrior universe. You can get mini's from the Mechwarrior Clix game fairly cheap on ebay. I have nearly a thousand of them. If you buy in lots and avoid the rare collectable ones you should be able to get some great bits cheap.

Oh nice, thats a gold mine of bits! What's the scale of the walkers to 40k? Is this the same as Battletech?

I snapped a couple pics for you. The tallest mech is that blue one, they range from that size down to just a bit taller than a space marine.

They are from the Battletech universe, but it is a separate gaming system. The mini's tend to be larger than Battletech minis I believe.

MW Clix is around 10mm or so scale.
Battletech is 6mm or so (ranges from 1/285 to 1/300).
