Yea so this totally happened and I am at a loss on how to fix it.

I am working on my PP IFP and they have these crazy long pikes that need to be replaced with brass rod, cuz lets face it, no one wants IFP with bendy wobbly pikes...

So here I was minding my own business and drilling a pilot hole through the hand before using the bigger bit that the brass rod will slide though, and the small drill bit snapped off into the mettle a few mm in there and I cant see it.

How on earth do I get the drill bit out? Is there a way with just a hand pin vise to drill through the bit? What the heck do I do short of ordering another arm?

A strong magnet might do the trick depending on how tightly wedged the bit is.

If the drill broke because it got wedged, then no magnet's going to budge it. Really, the only way is to drill another hole, preferably from the opposite side, and push it out. You can't go through the hardened metal of the fragment with any tool at your disposal

The supply does not get to make the demands.

If your lucky and a nub is still sticking out, you can take a flush cutter and gently turn it out. (iv saved a few models that way.

asides from that probably drill it out from the other side though once it hits the hard bit who knows what will happen.

I would try Agamemnon2's advice. Drill a hole from the other side and push the broken bit out with an awl or other pointed tool.

The alternative is to cut sideways into the hand, extract the bit, and repair the damage afterwards.

Great ideas. I'm gonna try to drill from the other side. I hope I dont have to cut from the side. Not sure the hand would ever look the same......
