in a series of threads that can only be summarized as "Damn nature, you scary"
I bring you the Mantis Shrimp here is the description from Wikipedia
"blah blah two types of claws Smasher and Spear.... Both types strike by rapidly unfolding and swinging their raptorial claws at the prey, and are capable of inflicting serious damage on victims significantly greater in size than themselves. In smashers, these two weapons are employed with blinding quickness, with an acceleration of 10,400 g (102,000 m/s2 or 335,000 ft/s2) and speeds of 23 m/s from a standing start,[7] about the acceleration of a .22 calibre bullet.[8][9] Because they strike so rapidly, they generate cavitation bubbles between the appendage and the striking surface.[7] The collapse of these cavitation bubbles produces measurable forces on their prey in addition to the instantaneous forces of 1,500 newtons that are caused by the impact of the appendage against the striking surface, which means that the prey is hit twice by a single strike; first by the claw and then by the collapsing cavitation bubbles that immediately follow.[10] Even if the initial strike misses the prey, the resulting shock wave can be enough to stun or kill the prey."
So we have 15 inch Death lobsters capable of making Bull Sharks die of blood loss........

Finally found my quote from a gym buddy born and raised in South Korea:
"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
"It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
"It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
"It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."

Don't they also have a habit of breaking aquarium glass, hence why they have to be kept in ultra bullet proof glass?

Quote from chromedog
and 40k was like McDonalds - you could get it anywhere - it wouldn't necessarily satisfy, but it was probably better than nothing.

Yep if they punch near the glass and are halfway serious the shockwaves can break relative thick glass with ease.

They also have a tendency to kill everything they are housed with.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

I used to have one, they're pretty neat to look at. Occasionally when I'd clean the tank it'd come out and attack the utensils - resulting in a popping noise you could hear in the room over.

Wouldn't it be better to merge these into a single thread of course titled, "damn nature you scary" and have others submit items as well? Youknow like a firetruck hunting gazelle and the like? =)

Gonna be honest. The Rainbow Warriors suddenly seem a lot more scary.

I just want to know if they are good on a po' boy.

I little bit of paprika and flour, I bet they would be. Maybe some Old Bay to finish it off.

To my knowledge only the Japanese with their slowed tastebuds eat them.
