I wanna use thunderwolves for a list am putting together. The list has 3 units of Grey hunters in pods, a rune preist and 2 full squads of long fangs. I am between using 2 units of 3 thunderwolves with 2 stormshields and a thunder hammer each(480 points) or 4 thunderwolves with one storm shield, one powerfist and a lord on thunderwolf with TH/SS, SOB,runic armor, wolftooth necklace (525 points). What do you think is best? Is the lord worth it or is better with only just thunderwolf cav. for an all around list?

My Wolf Lord has won me most every game I bring him too. He's capable of demolishing Hive Tyrants in close combat, can mow down entire swaths of weaker infantry if need be, and if you are challenged by somebody worthless (IE a SM Captain,) then you can always accept with the Thunderwolf who bought the PF/SS.
I'd say yes.

4 thunderwolves and a lord with EW... more wounds is always better, its also more attacks. Don't forget that the lord can take 3 wolves, so you have another 3 Abblative wounds...

Only 2 wolves, actually. It's still a bargain, always do this if you have the points

so i guess is the thundewolf lord one. I ve never used one but i read that his not that much good because of his points cost
I ll use the following unit: 4xTWC, one with SS and one with PF and the lord with TH/SS,SOB,RunicArmor,Twolf mount, 2 fenrisisan wolves

I find you're better off with 2 units wiht storm shields - they're pretty suvivable and it means that your opponent has two units to concentrate his fire on!

Thunderwolf Lord is a must - but for 2 HQ slots for th price of 1 - could run 2 wolf lords or even a wolflord with SOTB and a WGBL with SOTWB?

Even better take 4 wolflords with 8 wolves...

I think you're better off running a Thunderlord with Fenrisian Wolves....like a huge pack of them. He doesn't need help killing most things, he just needs extra wounds. If you want to also run TWC, run them in their own squad. They're too expensive to be meat shields for Thunderlords. Plus doing it this way, you've just created an instant MTO....which is always good. Makes it more likely one of your overpriced mini death stars slams into something.

I'd say yes.

I wasn't aware that Thunderwolf units had a character in them.

I have a peanut allergy. It's really inconsiderate.

"Long ago in a distant land, I, M'kar, the shape-shifting Master of Chaos, unleashed an unspeakable evil! But a foolish Grey Knight warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me. Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in space and flung him into the Warp, where my evil is law! Now the fool seeks to return to real-space, and undo the evil that is Chaos!"
