So this is my first post, solely to ask these few questions. Just begun a campaign with a few friends and I got romped playing a Tau Withdrawl mission, playing as chaos (using mostly dark vengeance, inc conversions)
But I've got a few new ideas and strategies and wanted to know what people think, some of these probably won't be foreign to the experienced players, and this isn't an army list either, I will be including other units eg.oblits, heldrake etc

So first up in having a Khorne Chaos Lord, axe of blind fury, conbi flamer and juggernaut of khorne, in my squad of 3 bikers (2 flamers, combo-flamer), great for horde units, not great for assault if I get stuck in a challenge. He is also my supreme warlord with the master of deception trait

Typhus, thinking either one unit of 35 plague zombies, or two of 20, as well as getting the plague Marines as troops, (2 plasma, combiplasma and power sword)

so that's basically it so far, wouldn't mind advice, tips, do's and do not's
Thanks heaps

Oh and master of deception will be used depending on the roll, a roll resulting in a 2 or 3, the infiltrate rule will be assigned to Typhus and the plague zombies, to get them as close to the enemy as possible and cause a major distraction and meat shield for enemy fire

You cannot choose to have the master of deception warlord trait. You must randomly determine the trait from the traitlist by rolling d6. If you reeeaally want the trait, try Huron or Ahriman.

Its a campaign. I assume he rolled once and got master of deception for the entire campaign with that character. Other then that, its a good list, but it is seriously lacking AT. I'n a bike unit of 3 I think you can only have 1 weapon per 3 guys, 2 not, so that means you'd have to lose a flamer. So I'd lose most of it and go for either a melta and combie or plasma and combie, but they would go tank hunting. Give there sarg melta bombs. Plauge marines are best in units of 7/8 and should lose the power sword, your getting a plague knife for free, use that. A nice trick is that I don't think that Zombies are marked by Nurgle, or indeed any Chaos god. If that's true then I would add the Khorne Lord into that unit to infiltrate and use the Zombies as a meat shield. Take 2 units of 20, so one unit can be Typhus's and on the Khorne Guys. Take second turn where possible to get a first turn assault with Lord (He leaves unit to charge). Hope I could help.

Personally, even though it is very generic I would reccomend 5 chaos spawn with the khorne lord or 3 oblits with typhus (deep strike them in)

Newer player, but have been stomped enough times to know what works and what doesn't as far as CSM go

oh yeah just to clarify the chaos lord is a "supreme warlord", we're playing Planetary Empires, if that explains anything. Now i only did what i was told, i didnt have the planetary empires rules in front of me, but with supreme warlord, we choose a trait and we cant change it for the entire game. I was gonna go with Dust of A Thousand Worlds so the bikers could metaphorically fly through terrain, but when i decided on having typhus and zombies, i thought having infiltrate would be more useful

The bikers (up to two in a squad) can replace their close combat weapons (or twin-linked bolters) with a flamer, melta, or plasma. this way, although it means they dont get that extra attack, they can use their twin-linked bolters at a distance, and flame when they get close, now they dont HAVE to assault, i can use them to soften hordes and send the chaos lord on his juggernaut in to assault

Like i said its not an army list, I am thinking of including 3 oblits, a heldrake, possibly a unit of slannesh marines, a 6-man termie squad with 2 combi flamer, 2 combi plasma, 1 combi melta, 1 autocannon. and most probable have a rhino in there somewhere, although ive always been more of an infantry kind of guy, never been big into using vehicles, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do

I was kinda disappointed actually with the plague marine champion that he couldnt have say a plague sword or have a power weapon with the "poisoned" special rule, he's meant to be a champion and it just seemed to make him less Nurgle :(

Thanks for all your advice and tips so far btw, greatly appreciated

Oh and having three bikes with two flamers and a combi flamer, doesnt LOOK all that threatning when youve got typhus and a massive load of zombies walking towards you, especially if i can infiltrate them and get them in close, even a group of 10 plague marines seems more threatening, but as soon as they get close enough to flame..its a whole other story
and a squad of 20 fire warriors is less likely to spend all that firepower on 3 bikers compared to a large squad of zombies and typhus, regardless if my chaos lord is with them or not
That was my thought on it anyway
