Gentlemen, I request your advice please.
If you don't have any of the special carrying cases for your armies, whether it be 40k, Fantasy, Warmachine, etc., how to you transport your army around? I used to carry my Blood Angels army in the Battleforce box I got, but now that my army has grown from before, it doesn't fit.
Does anybody have any recommendations on how to carry it now? Do you use any specific methods?
And for those fortunate few that use the Battle Foam stuff, how's that working out?

I wouldn't say those who use BF are "the fortunate few" nearly every member of my club has some sort of BF bag if they don't have one of the big GW cases.
That said, what I plan to do for my daemons, which features a large number of very large and awkward minis (lots of counts as models that are much bigger than standard GW) is get plastic stacking boxes, line the bottom of each box with magnetic mat, and attach magnets to their bases.
Alternatively, the generic foam can be very affordable, I have several trays which I transport in common or garden cardboard boxes, alongside my BF shield bag.

I repurposed a big plastic toolbox. Where toolboxes are concerned, pay close attention to how they are divided. My particular box has a big compartment in the bottom that is meant for power tools and easily fits fliers or wraithknight size 'miniatures' on their bases without any messing about and two trays of 3 and 4" height in which all the infantry, bikes and monsters find room. It's sturdy and high enough to sit on, which can be a plus.
Instead of a big-ass toolbox, I would look into cheap-o transparent stackable plastic boxes with lids. Often found for generic storage in big box stores. Clips that grip the lit are a plus. Add an cheap elastic tension band with hooks like you'd use in your car and you can make a very variable and scalable transport solution. I'd suggest to go for boxes that have about 4" internal clearance and one bigger box for the odds and ends.
For standing models, 2" are the minimum, 4" should deal with most monsters as well. Cut some thin metal sheets from the DIY store to fit the box's compartments, adhesive optional. Then stick magnet foil to small and neo-dym magnets to big bases. Done. I have a bunch of 10" x 20" metal plates that I use to park my minis in the bookshelf. Very convenient.

I've been using plastic boxes with clip-on lids, as has been suggested. But instead of cutting metal sheets, I used magnetic primer to paint the bottom of the box instead. Now the magnetized minis just stick in place with no issues.
I've also seen people use steel toolboxes for magnetized minis.

My first 3 carrying cases were large Plano tackle boxes with bits of foam from blisters tucked into each nook and larger pieces of foam on the top for vehicles. Other medium priced alternatives include gun cases from walmart. If you're really hard up for cash, you can just use a regular box and put each infantry unit in egg cartons and then stack the cartons in the box. I pretty much exclusively have moved on from the Plano boxes to regular GW cases and later to the double sized ones. I like the foam and I've never had any issues with the latches despite owning over a dozen for over that many years including multiple moves (and unheated/uncooled northern storage in between).

Most of my out-of-house gaming is at the local store, so my models often travel in open trays in the trunk.
They are also useful for moving the armies about during tournament without having to re-foam them.
It's also the best way i've found to transport a dozen or more Raider/Ravager hulls or a swarm of venoms. The DE vehicles aren't fond of the foam

I use these for transporting infantry. They're cheap and effective - the smaller slots can easily hold 2-3 models each (though big, bulky ones won't fit at all, obviously, and Terminators fit one to a slot) but I've found that I can carry my full Space Wolves army in two of those - and that's four 10-man Grey Hunter squads and four 6-man Long Fang squads with leftover space for markers and HQs. You're kind of on your own if you plan to transport bikes or vehicles, though. Even I know I'm terribly hard on mine, they mostly just end up tossed in a box and transported that way (though I keep them tucked behind my seat on a rubber mat to keep them from sliding around much).
General advice: go to a craft store, take a walk around the storage section, and just look around. JoAnn Fabrics is my go-to place for storage solutions, and I only very rarely have to deal with broken models - but as a caveat, if you play an army with spindly models or small contact points, you may want to look into one of the more expensive options listed above. I've broken more Tau and Blood Angels in six months than I have Space Wolves in two years.

This. My friends Dark Eldar live in battlefoam trays in normal cardboard boxes just fine.
My Tyranids and Vampire Counts stay in Battlefoam trays and depending on which I'm using, are transported in a 1520XL. My Infinity stay in a Hormagaunt tray right now, but I'm getting an infinity alpha bag off the missus for my birthday for them.
There's plenty of ways to transport your stuff. I used alternate means like cardboard boxes and towels and such for years. Now that I've tried battlefoam I won't do it any other way.

Once I get enough of an army built up, I'm getting some foam, and filling these boxes with my army.
And of course, airbrushing the appropriate Tau symbol on the side!
It's just for the pure cool factor, of course!

Now, I have also heard of using the Plano pistol case as an army transportation device.
A couple of these bad boys, with appropriate "holes" created for figures/vehicles, and you'd be all set to go.

I've tried several alternatives, including a padded shoebox, an eggcarton foam lined box, and cookie-tray marines (magnetized bases attached to a cookie sheet) before going with Battlefoam. And Battlefoam is by far the best option.

To be honest I think transporting 3000 points of Tau every time I want to play at someone's house or local store is the biggest inconvenience. I think transportation of bigger armies is the hardest thing to deal with at higher point levels.

sideways but look at dem magnets! (cue waynes world cut away music woobily woobily wooo)
a smaller but taller version
also have some in same footprint about 3.5" tall or so I use for infantry (that don't have giant spears... looking at you 6ed night gobbos/skellies)
just took sterilite containers, cut 22gauge sheet metal from home depot/lowes to fit, then liquid nailed it down with weights on overnight...
order yourself some 8.5x11" sheet magnets (self adhezive one side) but still needs gluin.
you are offered like 30 mil, 60 mil etc. 60 mil is good for heavier metal minis and sometimes may need a rare earth disc magnet instead if the mini is real heavy. 60 mil holds my metal squigs just find though
the 30 mil stuff is more appropriate for plastic/resin figures, can easily hold upside down
I lined my models' bases with magnets, put sheet metal in my movement trays, and cut magnetic sheeting for bottom of my movement trays as well, so now i just keep my army ranked up and ready to roll. have a stack of these I'm working on with various armies so hopefully when done just pick my "box" grab my backpack with books, and roll!

I use a Battlefoam Pack Air bag. I've been very happy with the quality and the safety provided to my models. I have stock foam in it, though, and the only complaint I have is the fit of a few of the models. I occasionally end up using some of the foam from Privateer Press blister inserts to stop something from rattling a bit.
Other than that, I've had several tips/knockovers/drops with very little ill effect. One arm on a model assembled 7 years ago popped off, but that's been it so far since getting the bag. My fiance's Trollbloods army is in a Privateer specialty bag from Battlefoam and she's had zero breaks/scratches since switching to Battlefoam.

Because you're not meant to do that with Battlefoam. They should be sitting loose in their slot with a few millimeters wiggle room. It's semi rigid foam, it's not meant to hug the model. I can't see how models would bend or break in a Battlefoam tray unless you were squeezing them into a slot too small for them.
