Subject: Question about Assault Marines

Ok, this is my n00b question number 2.
Just got a fresh box of Assault Marines and I'm looking through the bits. As a new painter and gamer I was holding off on getting the Codex for the Space Marines until the new one came out so, I can't really consult that.
My question is why do I have both regular and Assault backpacks (jump packs) and front torsos in the box?
Thanks for the help

Because assault marines do not necessarily come with jump packs; for example when mounted in vehicles / storm ravens etc.

Does the sprue with the packs also have the torsos? If it does it's probably the same one that comes in the tactical squad box, and making a new one for the assault squad is more effort than it's worth.

The spruce with the jump packs has the assault torsos. There is a third spruce with regular backpacks and regular tactical squad looking torsos which is why I got a little confused...

It just gives you more options. Assault marines can take a dedicated transport and remove their jump packs. Yes not having a codex to reference can make all the extra pieces confusing.

As above just said:
An assault squad can take jump packs or a transports, if they take the transport they go with normal back packs and the same weapons.

...everyone's a comedian Automatically Appended Next Post: next n00b question. If I want to make the Corvus Armor AM I have the Beakie head, legs and left (spiked) shoulder pad. Why couldn't they just include the correct right shoulder pad? As I far as I know, the "correct' one is without the raise edge. Why include the left one if your not gonna make the right one. Just curious
