Hey everyone (Apologies for the total noob question)

Ive started a mission- to create an entire space marine chapter. The trouble is I need a paint scheme and cant seem to make my mind up. I'm an okay painter, i wouldn't win a golden daemon competition but i can get a decent tabletop quality done in little time. If prefer to make my own chapter and not one f GW's pre-designed ones. My big issue is what colour? I've been playing about with the space marine army painter on dakkadakka, hoping i can get an idea of schemes or possibly ideas

The whole project will be built up over the next 18months (hopfully) I'll be looking at doing 10 companies with 1000+ marines (the + being tech marines and HQ choices etc)

Ideally id like to avoid black colour schemes, my original design was for a white scheme but that was a b*stard to paint and doing that for another 1000 marines would take me the next next couple of years to do

Have you tried the Space Marine painter over on Bolter & Chainsword?

War is not a matter of who is right, it is a matter of who is left.

I think a loyalist chapter with a white/blue scheme (semi pre-heresy world eaters inspired) could look fantastic. Just using white spray paint and giving it a wash with 1/4th nuln oil and 2/4ths of the white layer (is that white scars?) and 1/4ths lamia medium Makes an extremely easy way to get a very nice white colour
