Hi guys - was just hoping for a bit of C+C on my first 750 point list. Will be used for a friendly league with a few friends - the biggest threat so far being the Tyranid player.
Typhus
2 x 10 Cultists
2 x 2 MoN Obliterators
LC/AC Predator
Any advice from you seasoned pros would be much appreciated.

I think try to get 2 squads of regular marines with melta guns they are better all around. To get those points id suggest getting rid of the pred because the oblits and meltas are more than enough AT for 750.

Does not look like you will be capturing obj, just holding your own . make them both zombies. Ds typhus with a group of oblits or just have him join zombies. Good luck.

I was thinking about the cultists as they are zombies with Typhus. If I take the marines as troops should I drop Typhus and take a Nurgle Lord/Sorcerer?
Also the Predator was included as something I could counter his Doom special unit with

Yeah for this point level drop Typhus (really 1500 and above for him) and because you are not taking plague marines don't worry about marks right now either on your lord. My suggestion give the lord a plasma pistol and a power weapon of your choosing. Get some regular CSM and give them a plasma gun (for MC) and a flamer or missile launcher (this one in case he brings a lot of MC if he brings mainly infantry go with the flamer). Two squads should of 10 should do. You would have a enough points left over to either get some rhinos for your CSM and lord or get some cultists. If he uses the doom thing take the rhinos and keep them in there till it drops then keep out its range and shoot it to death with extreme prejudice (I don't like that thing can't you tell  )

Cheers for the advice - especially on the Doom :-)
You mentioned Plasmas - ive avoided using them at all in my games so far as the Gets Hot rule really makes me twitchy. I just envision firing off a critical shot on something like a MC and instead killing myself. How often do you find things like that happening when using Plasma?

Well I'm not good at mathammer so I really can't give you the math behind it, but its not that often I use them all the time and while I have had a few guys die on me (mainly IG) CSM have a better chance of surviving it with a 3 up save and Plague marines can shrug off plasma back fire very well do to FNP. Now plasma against MEQ and MC is real nice and IMO better than meltas due to rapid fire and better range. Don't get me wrong Gets hot shows its ugly head around every now and then, but it is worth the risk to give infantry the ability to take down those scary MC (my brother plays nids so believe I know the pain of seeing like 7 or 8 MC on the field). This gives the ability to be more flexible on the battle field and allows you to make more tactical decisions when you need to.

I had concentrated so much on the Gets Hot rule that I had totally overlooked the Rapid Fire! Yes that would be very handy indeed having 2 shots at 12 inches - with all the Tyrants and Tervigons floating around! And unless I miss my guess they would cause ID on the Doom too! Mwahahahaha!!
So how about this revised list :
Sorcerer, SoC, BBoS, Mastery Lvl 2
10 CSM, 1 Plasma, 1 ML, Rhino
9 CSM, 1 Plasma, Rhino
AC/LC Pred
3 Bikers, MoN, 2 Meltas
I'd have the Sorcerer role on Biomancy and ride round with the squad of 9 CSM so they all fit in the transport.

this pread is much more suited to kill nids since most nid players give hive tyrants wings and so volume of shots are more important. it also pulps warriors and a whole range of other bugs and sets them on fire while its doing it, note if you set a hive tyrant on fire he takes a extra grounding test every turn until the fire goes out as he takes hits from soul blaze it works better than you might think. against non nid players it inflicts many wounds and makes fighting necrons a cake walk
get the sorcerer to roll once on telepathy if you dont get the warp charge 2 powers switch to psycic shriek, gaunts are LD5 i belive so you can kill alot using that power but it works best against hard to wound monsterous creatures even though they are LD 10 most of the time a good roll can take them out in 1 shot
doom is T4 i think and has a big invunrable save, hit him with your missle launcher and meltaguns and hope for 1s
overall a solid list, but pread could be retooled for anti infanty or you cold keep the las cannons to doom his doom

Thanks Blackskull - some great advice there. Not really looked at the Telepathy table before but Shriek and those two 2 charge spells look awesome! Would I be right in saying that if I took the Shriek I could then make my remaining roll in Biomancy or would I be locked into the Telepathy table?
Amazing how much more I could get on the Predator if I went pure dakka isn't it! It's a toss up really between shooting lots of his troops and using those Lascannons to take out the Doom or any of his other long range units (i'm thinking Hive Guard here).
By the way he won't be taking wings on his Tyrant as we have agreed no flying units until we get to at least 1000 points. Which is a shame as I'm looking forward to seeing what the Helldrake is capable of!

last roll is free for biomancy, you can never be "locked in" to a table, the dakkapread has a lot of high strength shots so actualy wounds monserous creatures quite well, but if he isnt taking wings on the tyrant then he probably will use extended carapace for a 2+ save, in which case you may want to keep the las cannons.
hive guard actualy have short ranged 24 inch guns but they ignore cover and dont need line of sight to shoot so if the map is cover heavy you could have issues, kill em with your melta bikers whos guns will ID them, krak missles work too
