Hello everyone, recently I have been debating a choice I have been struggling to make for the past few weeks and figured I should here what you guys have to say regarding this. Basically the situation is this, I am nearly finished constructing a 2000pt. Elysian Army (literally just need the Forgeworld Book) and have been wanting to and starting to create a Battle Suit themed Farsight list to mix things up and to keep things fresh when it comes to 40k. Now a few of my friends think that should not even think about getting a second army to mix things up and just focus on building a massive army of Elysian Drop Troops and only add small allied detatchments of different armies. What do you guys think, focus on building my Elysians with some allied detatchments or just continue making my Battlesuit themed list to mix things up?

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.
40k/HH Night Lords 5000pts.
Orks Waaaghmacht Spearhead 2500pts.

I'd do what I wanted and not what my friends told me to.

You could make a second army if you have the money to spare. If you like the Tau playstyle, the fluff, the models, etc. that's completely okay.

I question whether that is wise if you solely want to mix things up, however. You can use almost every model in the Elysian list with the regular Imperial Guard rules, and at the very least 95% of your infantry with the Armoured Battlegroup or multiple DKoK rules. There is a lot more that you can explore just with the models you own, before even needing to make a second army. I'll be using the IG Codex, the Elysian list, and one or both DKoK lists with my IG models, and maybe even Armoured Battlegroup if I feel like buying a lot of tanks in the future.

The key to being able to enjoy the game in real life and also be a member of this online community is to know where you draw the line. What someone online on the other side of the world that you've never met says should never deter you from taking a unit for being either weak or OP. The community is a great place to come for tactics advice, and there is a lot of very sound opinions and idea out there, but at the end of the day, play the game how you want to... Don't worry about the hordes of Dakka descending on your gaming club to arrest you for taking one heldrake or not using a screamerstar. Knowing the standard opinion (and that's all it is) on what is good/bad and conforming to that opinion religiously are two entirely separate things.
