Hey all,

As the title says; My airbrush control lever is sticking, giving me a very slight contant air feed through the brush. This is my first airbrush (H&S evolution silverline 2in1), ive had it about 2 weeks now and have used it probably every other day. I have given it a thorough clean manually and using my ultrasonic cleaner after every use. I disassembled it to have a look and its not the valve bleeding air or a seal; as it only occurs with the control lever in position and after i have depressed it, therefore leading me to believe it is simply sticking.

It is not causing any paint to be sprayed (as the sticking appears only in the vertical axis).

My concern is:
  • will it get worse?
  • Should I be worried?
  • Can I rectify this myself?
  • or should I be considering sending the brush back?

  • I am a beginner in this area and just uncertain if its something common? I looked at some videos/sites talking about these issues but none seemed to offer any concrete way of solving the issue.
    Regards Solar

Lube it, check the spring in the valve.

ok, il give that a look when I get home tonight Although I did operate the valve using the end of a thin metal rod and on no occasions did it get stuck, was only occuring when operated by the airbrush lever. But in honesty I probably didn't give that a thoroughly satisfying check and will do later. Gona go see if I can find some info on how to disassemble that part of the brush, thank you

I have the same brush. =]

Based on your description I see several potential problem causes.

    1) You have disassembled the airbrush for cleaning several times and now it's not working as intended.
    > check for correct assembly, is the trigger inserted properly, i.e. does it release air when depressed, is the needle seated correctly in the nozzle?
    > check for bent needle tip. replace bent needle with same size replacement part. Alternatively, swap in the other needle/nozzle pair to exclude the needle.
    > Since you have the 2in1, I assume you are certain that you didn't mix the two different sized nozzles and needles.

    2) You mention you used an ultrasonic cleaner to clean your brush. I assume you also added airbrush cleaner or other chemicals.
If you flush your brush with airbrush cleaner after the paint is through, you shouldn't even have to take out the needle. If your brush clogs up a lot, your paint is not thinned enough.
Ultrasound will not harm your brush, but prolonged exposure to chemicals can harm the seals in the brush.
    > remember how long you bathed the brush with chemicals, if it was a long time you might have damaged seals. That isn't covered by the warranty.
    > did you use any cleaning brushes? Those as well might danage the seals. Same, not covered by warranty.
    > after chem bath cleaning your brush, its lubrication will be gone or degraded. As such it won't work properly and you need to relube it. I'm not sure what you use for that, be sure not to just pick anything as it might make things worse. Consult your dealer or find an official recommendation on the web.
