I recently received a number of bits I got on eBay. Among them were two sprews with missile launcher marines, however they are blue plastic. I don’t recall ever seeing blue sprews, does anyone know how old they are?

They'll be 2nd edition, so mid-90's or thereabouts.

Was it a SM thing? Because I have a LMBT from 1993 that has a light grey sprew.

There used to be a variety of colours across the different ranges, depending on what they were for. At least one version of Space Hulk had Genestealers in blue plastic and Terminators in red. There's also been different shades of grey throughout the years - in 3rd edition most of it was light grey plastic, it seems to have gone a lot darker in recent years.

Interesting. Well as long as I didn't get some knock off "Space Warrior"

The 'Space crusade' game came with 3 different coloured sets of marines. red, blue, and yellow.

Did space crusade have a Marine with a missile launcher?

It's 'sprue' and 2nd edition marines came in grey and blue while RT plastics came in cream and green. Other colours might have been used. People don't normally recast plastics, if it's an older figure and it's an odd colour, it's probably still genuine.

It is surprisingly detailed for a model that old.

I know the Space Marines that came in my 2e 40k box set were a really light grey almost a white plastic. I have one or two laying around somewhere, I'll see if I can find them.

I think Blue Marines were one of the sprues in Space Marine? or one of those sets. I know there were Blue Terminators from somewhere, and I know for a fact (as I still have a few) that the Space Crusade Scouts were in red Plastic.

But, if they are really detailed... then I don't know which ones those could be from... "Detailed" was not something GW did well early on... lol

Sorry about the quality, my computer is giving me a lot of issues.

Well, those definitely look like the 2e Starter set marine with Missile Launchers.

In all honesty, plastic colors did change from time to time. Placing exactly which release of the 2e box sets or anything else from that time is hard.

They don't look like recasts if that was your concern.

Hope this helps.

I had a few copies of Space Marine Assault, which came with 5 Marines in blue plastic and 8 Genestealers in purple plastic. There used to be a ton of different colored plastics, and even the newer Space Hulk is in red and blue plastic.
