Having recently broken open my first batch of Chaos Cultists, there were a few things that struck me about the new models.

First off, they're really quite cool. I like the improvised warfare appearance, the creepy gas masks, the whole deal. But I don't like how static they are.
I intend to field 30-40 of these guys, and I'm not content to have six models cloned repeatedly advancing upon my enemies. This is Chaos, I want a horde of seething monstrosities, but monstrosities with individual personalities and a terrific 401k.

So, I pulled out my green stuff and my scalpel/blood axe of Khorne/exacto knife and set to work.

Don't get too disappointed. These are some of the unmodified models, for a frame of reference, and because the more the merrier when it comes to Cultists.

Green stuff closed up the robe, and I sawed off someone's autopistol for him. Don't know where the sword came from, it was in my bitz box.

Green stuff evened out the hood, the axe was from a WHFB chaos guy, and the autopistol arm was re-positioned. Also, he lost his dog tags, so they'll be making fun of him for that back at the barracks.

Simple headswap here and a little head modification. Nothing much to see, I just liked the one-eyed glare rather than the crazy oni mask.

Yes, this crazy oni mask. The arm was redone, and the shield again came from the depths of my bitz box. I think it belongs to a tank. Not sure, though.

And a work in progress view of the next runner-up: the icon bearer.

I hope you all enjoyed it, and I'll try to post some more as they get completed. If anyone else has some cultist conversions they used to break up the monotony, please do a kindness and reply with pics. There's a lot of cultists still to go, and more inspiration never hurts.

Carry on.

Glad to help, General, and thank you. A lot of it just comes from taking the arms off the models and digging around in the bitz box until inspiration strikes.

Look forward to seeing yours once you get going with them

The head swap to get that single eye glare is actually quite freaky and intimidating, its very well done and looks so much better than the oni mask.

Not as much progress as I would've liked this week, but here's some more WIP to spark a little creativity.

Too many conversion pics (something like a 100 converted cultists...) in the thread so here is the link: http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/483650.page#4969039

Awesome, Tim, start to finish. Creativity with a lot of personality mixed in.

I reckon I'd have another go at that middle dude.

Think he needs a bit of love on the arm socket.

But they look ace man, inspired me to alternate my guys.
