I keep looking at the new Monstrous Creature meta and I'm spinning my wheels trying to find a good solution.

Is IGs best answer to MCs LasPlas vets? Is there something better I've missed?

Lascannons in combined platoons, or HWTs, with the Bring it down order.

High strength, low ap, rerollable weapons, Plasma is also good.

As a nid and guard player I always try and kill the plasma vets first. So take more than 2 squads as those flyrant pairs will likely pop two chimeras at the start and have your vets on foot.

I will second the las/plas vets, and also suggest a couple of Russ setups.

The first one for anti-MC is a vanquisher with lascannon and plasma sponsons, as the range and AP2 gets you dropping wounds on MCs early in the game, and can also wreck tanks, making it good for a TAC list.

The other is more situational, but I find a Punisher with HB sponsons and Pask is a good anti-MC unit, as the weight of fire and re-rolls to wound is good for forcing saves, which is often what kills MCs.

I've also used plasma stormtroopers as a 10-man squad against MCs with moderate success, but there are better things for them to be doing to be honest.

I think the best IG solution to monstrous creatures is the Vendetta. 3 Twin-Linked Lascannons means consistent wounds, and it's mobile enough to be able to draw line of sight on them fairly easily. The only downside is that it has to come in from reserves. Beyond that, plasma vets in a chimera work pretty well, but you definitely have to protect their chimera. Leman Russ Executioners are also always fun...

If you're using the Armoured Battlegroup list, you can take special Leman Russ Vanquishers with Beast-Hunter shells that cause Instant Death, in addition to being far more accurate than normal.

The key to being able to enjoy the game in real life and also be a member of this online community is to know where you draw the line. What someone online on the other side of the world that you've never met says should never deter you from taking a unit for being either weak or OP. The community is a great place to come for tactics advice, and there is a lot of very sound opinions and idea out there, but at the end of the day, play the game how you want to... Don't worry about the hordes of Dakka descending on your gaming club to arrest you for taking one heldrake or not using a screamerstar. Knowing the standard opinion (and that's all it is) on what is good/bad and conforming to that opinion religiously are two entirely separate things.

Yup, I would field 5 Vanquishers with beast hunter shells in the current meta. If I was allowed to use ABG.
