If you've got some core units, I'd either get some more of those, or start moving towards getting some heavy hitters like battlewagons or nob bikes, or something.

Nob Bikers are where its at right now. Without just rancid luck on your end theyre fething hard to remove and one of the few assaulty units that still work wonders. I have bad luck with BWs so i'll never comment on them.

You can technically just buy a couple Warbiker boxes (if youre just starting out, i'd get the Battleforce if i were you. Ork Battleforce is the only one that is actually a price cut for whats inside and you want it all) as bikernobz...just give one a greenstuff surgical mask and stick a needle on his slugga/shoota to call it a painboy. Nob Bikers have no official model, but theyre one of the units that demand a good kitbashing if you have the talent/time/patience.

Aside from nob bikers....get some grots (min grot squad in the back is always good for objectives...40pts so why not) and Kannon batteries are damn awesome however i wouldnt buy the GW ones theyre a bit overpriced...besides its not that hard to stick an oversized barrel on 2 wheels anyway lol
Also lootas. You want/need lootas. If you want you can just give a random boy a bigger than usual gun and he counts as a loota if you want to save money by not buying the loota/burna box.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

14000pts Big 'n Bad Orkz
6000pts Admech/Knights
7500pts Necron Goldboys

get 20 more boyz! then you get to field either 2 groups of 30, or 3 of 20.

Or as said above get some nob bikers, they are overall one of the best units in the current book.

Useful stuff to consider getting:
-Lootaz. You can also easily save the Burna bits and make burnas with spare orky bodies.
-Battlewagon--though this can be a daunting kit if you're new to modeling!
-Ork Battleforce is a good deal, but the only issue is only 3 bikers isn't that useful--you'll need to buy another unit to have access to 6.
-Big Mek with Kustom Force Field has taken a hit from last edition, but he's still handy and a staple in many lists
-Aegis Defense Line

Orks - "Da Rust Gitz" : 3000 pts
Empire - "Nordland Expeditionary Corps" : 3000 pts
Dwarfs - "Sons of Magni" 2000 points
Cygnar - "Black Swan" 100 pts
Trollbloods - "The Brotherhood"
Haqqislam- "Al-Istathaan": 300 points
Commonwealth - Desert Rats /2nd New Zealand 1000 points

I'd myself would go for a Big mek with KFF and then load up on trukks and battlewagons... The faster you can crump the better!!

Two battleforces would compliment your two AOBR sets quite well and give you access to a bike unit as well as two transports and some more boyz.

Eventually, you'll move past the cc orks in the aobr. For now, to make them viable, 2 battlewagons which will always be useful.

Then get lootas, at least 15. You'll eventually want shoota ork boyz and probably around 40. Grots especially with Arty are popular right now and mega nobs, but you'll probably want to wait till new ork releases for the mega nobs.

Very much concur with those who suggested lootaz as a good place to start. Burnaz are situational, but they're a good start for getting used to converting, which is one of the main things you'll need to do for an Ork army (I'm assuming you're new to 40k, if not ignore). You can take the Burna bitz from the Loota/Burna box and mutilate a few of your AOBR boyz to mount them on. I also recommend MOAR BOYZ (you'll most likely want to assemble them as shootaz), a box or two of gretchin (they're cheap in-game, fairly cheap IRL, and they're perfect for any task that requires a warm body and literally no other skills), and a Battlewagon and/or Dakkajet when you want to start adding vehicles.

As far as Models go. I never really liked the Black Reach Defkoptas. I prefer the twin prop Kopta and because I already had 15, I didn't need the Black Reach Def Koptas, so I converted all of my Black Reach Koptas into Bikes. Creating Warboss and Gutsmeks, Big Meks, and Painboys first. Eventually, I had converted enough to create an entire Nob Squad. Most of my Bikes are Metal and they are smaller than the plastic ones, so they just became regular Warbikers, with the Defkopta conversions being the Nob units.

This would only mean that you are like me and will field Bikes over Koptas. If you still want to field Koptas I would still covert one and give it a PK to designate your boss or Gutsmek - throwing a squig on the back is always a nice touch as well.
