So, I stumbled upon a $20 hammerhead this weekend while at a local tourney, and I want to put it to use. I bought a squad of suits and a squad of firewarriors so I can ally the hammerhead in, and here's what I was thinking for 1850 pts

HQ:
Pedro Kantor - 175
Commander - CNC, M3S, PEN, XV8-02 - 160 pts

Elite:
Sternguard - 10 man - 5 combi-plasma, drop pod - 310
XV8 Team - 2 Man - 2x MP each - 104 pts (not sure if missile pods are the right weapon to choose. I was also thinking burst cannons or plasma)

Troops:
Tactical Squad - 10 man - Plasma, Missile Launcher, Rhino - 215 pts
Tactical Squad - 10 man - Plasma, Missile Launcher, Rhino - 215 pts
Firewarriors - 9 man - 81 pts

Heavy:
Devastator Squad - 10 man - 4 Lascannons - 310 pts
Whirlwind - 85 pts
Hammerhead - Railgun w/ submunitions, Disruption Pod, Sensor Spines, Longstrike - 195 pts

Comes to 1850 even, but I'm not sure what I should do with Kantor. I want the sternguard to score, but I also want them to last past turn 1 if they come in via pod. The XV8-02 commander joins the devastators to give them cover ignoring, twin-linked, tank-hunting lascannons. Should I run longstrike with the ion cannon instead of the railgun, or stick with the railgun? Also, rhino/drop pod for the sternguard or any tacs? I only have 1 pod model, so only 1 squad gets that ride, but I have plenty of rhino chassis. The whirlwind stays, I just love that model.

Also, just to re-iterate. I ONLY have 12 firewarriors, 3 crisis suits, and 1 hammerhead tank. I want to bring a riptide, but I cannot afford to drop that on that model just yet (the suits/FW's were plenty expensive enough )

I like it. The Suits should have TL plasma and ML Pod as in my experience that lands them great versatility. Kantor is hard. I've no idea about what you should do to him. The commanders kinda expensive but I like what you're doing with him. Railhead is better IMO especially when you also have submunitions. Good Luck -Feasible

The Riptide can't be a giant death robot, its completely lacking a sword or massive chainsaw. All giant death robots have swords or massive chainsaws.

I really like your list! Lots of good synergy and plenty of variety to deal with most things!

With your stern, take plasma. You have enough to deal with heavy armor and in a pinch plasma can drop most tanks from a side/rear hit. It also provides a way to hurt teq in mass. I would always pod them in to get into a nice tactical position. With so many uses, you want them johnny on the spot so they can remove key threats quick. They will be a target regardless, but with lots of other threats your saturating.

I like the use of the commander. That dev squad is nasty. Remember, you can also get monster hunter from your chip to lascannon down mc's as well. If anybody gets close, pop one of the other options to help weather melee. Sad you don't have points for a neuroweb jammer. Also consider vector thrusters to prevent from being bogged down.

The crisis are okay and fill a nice role for mid range light armor busting, you could probably just take one. Either plasma or missiles, burst is not that impressive.

Marine troops look good. Fire warriors are just ok, you could drop.a.few for upgrades here and there.

Make sure you have sms on the hammerhead. Also consider the repair system since you are investing in longstrike. Sensor spines are also good, but not required

I want to take 9 fire warriors because their leadership is bad and if it was an 8-man unit, I'd only need 2 dead to force the test vs 3 dead from a 9 man unit. I like the suggestion for sensor spines, but the only place the points can come from is the sternguard. I'll drop 1 combi-plas for the spines, as I think my tank not immobilizing itself is more important that up to 2 plasma shots
