So I original started this thread for a 2000k point tournament which, benig my first 2k tourny, i did pretty well landing in the top quater of those competing. I'm actually raelly happy with the result. I love all the feedback I've gotten so far and I'm now playing in a Campaign using planetary empires! As my oppenens change i'll change the subject line and as always, advice is welcome!
I have my first 2000 point tournament coming up next month and I've been toying around with trying to find the best list for my style of play. The idea i had was to just shred everything as it comes across the field, but still having enough manouverability incase the enemy is doing the same.
HQ:
Techmarine: Servo-Harness, Bolter, 3 Servitors - 105 points
Command Squad: Apothecary, Standard of Devastation - 180 points
Troops:
Tactical Squad: 10 marines, plasmagun, lascannon - 220 points
-Razorback TL Heavy Bolters
Tactical Squad: 10 marines, plasmagun, lascannon - 220 points

Elites:
Company Veterans: 10 veterans, 3 combi-plasma, 2 plasma guns, plasmacannon - 255 points
Dreadnought: Plasma Cannon, Missle Launcher - 120 points
Dreadnought: Plasma Cannon, Missle Launcher - 120 points
Heavy Support:
Devastator Squad: 7 marines, 2 with lascannon, 2 with plasma cannon - 243
-Razorback TL Lascannons

-Razorback TL Lascannons
Predator: TL Lascannon, Lascannon Sponsons - 140
Fortification: Ageis Defense Line w/autocannon.
Comes out at 1996. Thoughts and suggestions please.

You can't take techmarines as your HQ, they occupy a bonus slot in the same way as a command squad. Swap him for a divination libby with PFG, which is more useful and a tad cheaper. Command squad is good, nice and shooty.
Troops:
Tactical Squad: 10 marines, plasmagun, lascannon - 220 points
-Razorback TL Heavy Bolters
Tactical Squad: 10 marines, plasmagun, lascannon - 220 points
-Razorback TL Heavy Bolters
Both of these setups are good, but really, I would drop the Razorbacks for more tactical marines. You don't need the mobility for a gunline, and they will give First Blood easily. On the other hand, more tacs gets you more use from the BOD.
Elites:
Company Veterans: 10 veterans, 3 combi-plasma, 2 plasma guns, plasmacannon - 255 points
This unit seems expensive, especially without a DP. I can see a similar setup being used like sternguard, as an alpha-strike against something nasty, but they need a pod for this. Personally, I would rather go with more tacs.
Dreadnought: Plasma Cannon, Missle Launcher - 120 points
Dreadnought: Plasma Cannon, Missle Launcher - 120 points
These seem for long ranged firepower, I would suggesting keeping them near a PGF for the 4++.

Devastator Squad: 7 marines, 2 with lascannon, 2 with plasma cannon - 243
-Razorback TL Lascannons
I would swap this around a bit, with 4 lascannons in one squad, and 4 plasma cannon in the other. It just maximises the efficiency of the unit. Again, I'm not sure on the razorbacks, especially with squads too big to carry. Strikes me as an easy kill point/first blood. On the other hand, more targets never hurt.
Predator: TL Lascannon, Lascannon Sponsons - 140
Seems good, nice and focused.
Fortification: Ageis Defense Line w/autocannon.
The use and benefits of this is obvious.
I think the key thing is more Tacticals, both to get maximum use from the Banner, and because at 2k points you need more scoring units. Mobility shouldn't be an issue, this army needs to just stand still and shoot stuff up with masses of firepower.
hope that helps.

Lack of terminator armour makes this list very poor against any other army with lots of AP3 weapons (heldrakes, tau, eldar)
I can see this getting tabled by the 3 drake chaos list and by the wraithguard eldar lists.
Drop that veteran squad for either deathwing knights for an assault punch or maybe plain termies with AC and CML for turn 1 vehicle popping so the rest of the army can shoot up the squishy soldiers that spill out...

Love the feedback guys.
@Paradigm, yeah definately makes sense to Bring more gun to the fight with SoD
@ChaosCrusader, I was debating taking the knights or not. In my experience, especially with TAU, they get left behind Real Quick, but for Chaose and Eldar, very handy indeed.
Here's Mk II
HQ:
Librarian: Force Sword, Bolt Pistol Power Field Generator - 95
-Diviniation, pair with a dev squad
Techmarine: Servo-Harness, Bolter - 70 points

So I ran almost the exact list above and a cleaned house against a slannesh / khorne and they didnt make it across the baord.
Did decent against new space marines and tyrnids.
Question I have now is its viability against and assault orriented Blood Angels army. Anythoughts on things to chaneg from MkII?

Not quite sure on the synergy for these guys. Up to 36" range sure you get two weapons firing but past 36, you're down to a single str8 shot (or blast VS hordes).
In addition the str7 on the plasma wont really pop AV13 but the ML has a chance to so you've wasted the plasma.
Dont have codex at hand but can DA dreads take 2x TL autocannons? might be a better options as it also fills a nice multiple str7 niche which the rest of your guys dont have.
In addition the 1/3 chance to hit on the plasmas always irks me.

Hmm good point and thats a slight typo on my part.
Those dreads just have the plasma cannons and CCFs.
I love the look of the venerable dreads, and those dont come with the autocannon options. But i see what your saying.
If I were to drop them I'm not certain what I would take in their place.
Better Question, What does Hissy think?

Hissy Hive fear plasma cause plasma kill lots of giibblies and have chance to kill Tervigons too.
But if Hissy was commanding tasty Dark Angles, Hissy might suggest, 2 or 3 typhoon speeders, giving 6 x str 8 shots at range + some maneouverability for side armor shots? Fragile speeders though, Hissy kill many in her time.
Or Hissy think maybe change Dreads to TL assault cannons? Still 36" range but lots of shots at BS4 + rending.
Hissy not want to see Azalles army near Hive either.

Ok well I'd suggest the autocannons on your dreads and remove the techmarine because you can't buff the aegis

Hissy, I am honored at your presence and will think long and hard about your sage advice. Don't worry, my Angels of Vengeance are helping you by getting rid of weaker hive fleets so only the strong ones, like Hissy's, are still alive. I've thought about the land speeders, i'll have to invest in some more. I do have a Landspeeder Vengance which is incredibly fun to play with, especially if you give it prescience from the librarian, re-roll gets hot and and misses. . For the dakka dreads im going to have to invest/look on ebay for dread arms, but it seems to be the most continual piece of advice. Although it is rather gratifying to drop small pie plates then chagre that same unit Automatically Appended Next Post: MK III Gun Line VS Blood Angels So i'm still going to run a similar list I think. They seem to be very asault oriented traditionally. So I'm going sit back and utilize the gun line. I've made some adjustments but this is what I plan on running at the moment: HQ: Librarian: Force Sword, Bolt Pistol Power Field Generator master lvl 2 - 130 -Diviniation, pair with a dev squad Techmarine: Servo-Harness, Bolter - 70 points -Buff the Aadditional cover, man the autocannon and Repair Pred and Dreads Command Squad: Apothecary, Standard of Devastation - 180 points Feel no pain on top of the PFG, more survivability. Troops: Tactical Squad: 10 marines, plasmagun, lascannon - 175 points Tactical Squad: 10 marines, plasmagun, lascannon - 175 points Tactical Squad: 10 marines, plasmagun, , heavy bolter - 165 points Tactical Squad: 10 marines, plasmagun, , heavy bolter - 165 points Elites: Deathwing Knights - 235 Dreadnought: Plasma Cannon, Close Combat Fist - 110 points Dreadnought: Plasma Cannon, Close Combat Fist - 110 points Heavy Support: Devastator Squad: 5 marines, 4 with lascannon - 150 Devastator Squad: 5 marines, 4 with plasma cannon - 130 Predator: TL Lascannon, Lascannon Sponsons - 140 Fortification: Ageis Defense Line w/autocannon. My main concern is that i don't think i have a very strong counter to the Assault aside from throwing my Dreds at them, which is always fun to watch. Thoughts?
