Subject: Building a Better Fateweaver **pic heavy**
I have always disliked the GW Lord of Change, and their Kairos Fateweaver was even worse. So i looked into building my own. I know Kairos is supposed to have two heads, but i like my own take better Plus this way i can run him as a generic LoC if i'd like.
A lot of work and time went into this model. Let me tell you, sculpting robes from Apoxiesculpt is a pain in the .
Let me know what you guys think! (Sorry for the bad pics...i WILL eventually make a proper lightbox for this sort of thing. My current lighting kinda washed out much of the shading)
BEHOLD KAIROS IN ALL HIS GLORY!
An obligatory shot of his back
A look at his staff I wanted this to look like some Lovecraftian Eldritch horror bound into a staff-form.
Close up of the staff top Note the cephalopod-like tentacles...in adition to the many eyes
Another angle
A look down I like the way i got that skull to look like lapis or green cut glass.
Different lighting
...And again a look from the back Cant really see the shading on the white robes here though...
Here's some WIP shots.
Spoiler:
Great things have small beginnings...
Greenstuff sleeves added. Staff is brass rod with 'Nid, Soulgrinder, and Spawn bits, the bottom claw is from the Cockatrice tail. Organic texture is superglue spread over the rod, then sprayed with instaset to speed curing, and poked a lot with a toothpick to break up the surface.
Beginnings of the legs. Lots of Apoxiesculpt over an old Captain Planet action figure's legs.
Close up of staff top.
Torso added, fetishes glued to belt.
Shots of different angles.

I think this is infinitely better than the kairos model, i find finecast "fiddly". I particularly like the paint job wih the shading on the cloak and head, also the lack of feathery wings is a plus. Nice job

Yeah, I was thinking of adding feathers to the wings, but deciding against it. I felt that Tzeentch would look a bit better as a riot of anatomies, instead of strictly avian.

It looks very nice, but Fateweaver it is not. FW is supposed to be old and decrepit, an ancient LoC hobbling around using his staff for support. This LoC is full of dynamism and does not say "Fateweaver" at all to me.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I basically wanted a more impressive Lord of Change that I will just be using as Fateweaver. So not Fateweaver per se, just using his rules

I really like what you did with your model. The LOC has always looked pretty lame to me, even the Forge World isn't that cool in my opinion. Kairos is indeed worse. You, however, have really made a great model. Good show.

Actually... yes. Sure he's bent over ready to pounce, but look at the stretched skin over the muscles, like its wrapping paper ready to tear. The splotchy coverage of the feathers that gives it a mangey look.
It definitely looks old and decrepit, just not invalid.
Incidentally, that pic is awesome, where's that from ?

A Heretic may see the truth and seek redemption. He may be forgiven his past and will be absolved in death. A Traitor can never be forgiven. A Traitor will never find peace in this world or the next. There is nothing as wretched or as hated in all the world as a Traitor. - Cardinal Khrysdam, Instructum Absolutio
