Hello All,

I'm trying to get back into painting after many years and little experience, and wondered if any one could recommend a good colour set for the following figures , and If possible from the Vallejo brand ?

The first set of figures themselves are all from heroclix brand and compromise of mostly storm troopers , and vader while the second are the same 35mm scale but of Daleks.

I also have some statues and a tomb in a larger scale from lemax I was hoping to paint too , so if any one has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it.

thanks.

Somewhere in south-central England.

Do you want to paint them in the similar colours to the original screen versions?

Which version of Daleks are they? The "New Paradigm" Daleks have well defined primary colours. Older Daleks tend to be more subdued or metallic colours.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Hi,

yes ,I was hoping to keep both daleks and star wars close to the originals.

The daleks I have are gold and black , but I think I prefer the silver older ones in general and maybe just have 2 coloured in gold and perhaps even a purple ? to coincide with shockwaves colours ( I am doing bit of TF crossover with daleks, star wars )

First off, Welcome to Dakka.

I like the idea! For the silvers and golds. I look at VMA Silver with a smoky wash, and for the golds Vallejo Old Gold and very watered down sepia wash would look pretty amazing on them too.

Good luck and post up some pictures.

Thanks Darefsky , do you have recommendations for the storm troopers - I was hoping for A more battle hardened look , rather than something clean.

I assume your talking starwars storm troopers? If so I'd probably look at P3 Menoth White Base, brown wash and highlight up with P3 Menoth White Highlight up to a bright white.

Yes, as in Star Wars..

I basically won 10 Vallejos in an auction so Im looking to try to see if i can get most of what I need from there .

I already have GW badab black wash I forgot about , but that's it, do you think that would do for the smoky wash ?

Also curious if theres anything in Vallejo line that might work well for red and blue light saber , and for blasters ( I read someone just dried brush it with gunmetal )

thanks again.

Badab black will give you a more ashen black look, for smokey grime I would look at a brown/sepia wash (which Vallejo does carry in their Game Color line).

For the whites, I'd look at the Model Color and find a good off white as your base, something with a ting of tan already in it to give you that "old" look, and a highlight of a brighter white. I would look it up but I just got off a 12 hour shift and have been up for 25 hours.

Go get rest then !!!

In meantime I'll ask , look around as all I can see is an off peppermint on their site , other than white, foundation white & glossy white .

The only 2 I see here are the off white and ivory , what about statues and anything along those lines what ? ( I was thinking white grey )

thanks,

The new Sick Man of Europe

Maybe try rakarth flesh for a stormtrooper base colour.
