So this cycle I've finnished my last 3 deathwing, then I painted a Lizardman Saurus old blood, one chosen, one ravenwing biker sarge and a chaplain dreadnought.
And the wall hit.....or at least I think so.
I want to paint, but I'm unhappy with these ravenwing, times gonna tell how I feel after I get them done.
I want to get a few spray paints and do the DW and tact squad. and try and save some time to add to the army but I'm cracking and I know it'll take just a little push to burn the hell out.
How dya get past this sorta wilderness-cum-burnout stage and back into painting?

For the Lion and Terra!
Because nothing in the galaxy is black and white, Mankind views the Space Marines as a last resort. The last line. When all else fails. They take up the burden. The noble defenders of Mankind. The last hope.
With finecast you can bypass the washing stage and throw them straight into the bin.
Or cut out the middleman and just flush some money down the toilet.

When I feel like that I just take a break for a few days and do something different, such as play a video game or just relax. I find I get back into the pairing mood after a few days or so.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

@edbradders, I'm exactly the same.
I also have a small stockpile of old WD and codices that I like to flip thought. That tends to spark my interest to pick up the brush. But usually just taking a day or two off is best

I'm also unhappy with my paint-job of my models. What i come down to in the end is whether or not I want to be able to identify my personal models on the tabletop, and claim ownership of them. It's been helpful for getting me to paint up my models.

To get out of a burnout state I usually start small to get back into paiting. Like I've been burning out pretty bad lately so I stopped for over a week and didn't paint a thing. Then just today I painted just the background circle on a set of rhino doors for my free hand Luna wolves insignia, that's all I did and it only took me 15 minutes. Now all I want to do is finish the damn thing but I can't because I'm at work! So when I get home I'm still not gonna paint it. I'm gonna let the tension build for another day or so till I go out and just finish it then ill want to do something else usually.
Just do 1 thing at a time or just baby steps and turn it into a tease. It helps me so maybe it'll help you: I do this every time I burn out and it's been super useful.
The important thing is not slapping down 4 squads and putting dead lines on it. Keep paiting fresh and at a point where all you want to do is finish whatever singular model your working on. Or if you must do squads at a time break them down and do just the basecoat on a couple models 1 day, then just the wash the second, then re-up the basecoat in the non shade areas, then weapons and details finally. Do 1 thig a day for like 1/2-1 hour or so.

Perhaps try setting yourself mini-goals? Hahaha! Get it 'mini-goals' .. Oh dear.. Anyway I agree, if its a squad or even a single model, plan to do just the basecoat tomorrow. Purchasing an airbrush to speed up large areas has done wonders for my enthusiasm. The day after a basecoat, a highlight colour can be done, rinse and repeat. I usually find that stretching out the painting over an extended period ends up making me impatient and keen to finish the task. It also has the benefit of speeding up as you gain momentum and experience from grouping paint stages - and as you move to smaller and smaller details the gratification is greater. Also helpful is if you're applying varnishes and oil washes where you have to wait for drying time.
The best example for me is waiting for the primer to dry. Next day, pre highlight and shade, then basecoat. Wait an hour or so then gloss varnish. Next day apply decals then I move in with the weathering and battle damage using a sponge and brush combo. After 3 days I've got all the hard bits done, and can take my time and enjoy the detail painting.

Multiple projects, i currently have 1500pts of marines half completed a 1500pts of WHFB Warriors of Chaos force half painted an inquisitorial warband built converted and primed 1000pts of DA 99% complete and 1500pts of Necrons that were just finished.
when the wall hits i swap to a different army which makes me change style and colour scheme and i bounce back and forth like that till i get everything done.
the trouble comes when i buy new things haha.

I do this exact same thing. I have Black Templars, Tau, and Dwarfs. They are all very unique armies that all look completely different. I usually rotate my modelling/painting army every month or so so I dont get bored with what I am doing. Ill paint black templars till I want to punch something because pristine blacks and pristine whites are soooo hard to do for me. So I will move to the tau, where I will stay for a long time til I cant stand the sight of red paint anymore. Then I go to dwarfs until all the tiny little detailed crap makes my hands cramp. Then its back to simple space marine models and I am all good.

Stop painting and play...... Get an idea of they would all look like painted and on the table in action. I was mid way through my RW Black Knights and got burnt out doing black. Once i seen them on the table while i was playing and taking time to look at them from diffferent angels. I push me to paint more and paint them better.
