I seen this and was wondering if it was right. It was a unit of knights in a ran of 3 ful command were in the front next was 3 casters than the additional 3 in the back. Can the 3 casters cadt from the middle rank. Specifically a magic missle spell like banishment.

Yes you can shoot magic missiles from the second rank like any shooting attack
I'm not sure if it's addressed in the BRB FAQ, but it is in the Bret one (where damsels have to go in the second rank of Lance formations)

Yes. It still must be in the front arc and the target may not be engaged in combat.
