I learned today that Thomas Edison is responsible for the "tramp stamp".

Back in the day, Ole Thomas decided that an electric pen would be a GREAT idea. Intended for embroidery, Thomas thought it would be the iPhone of his day. Nobody else agreed, however. Well, nobody except for Samuel O'Reilly who added an ink reservoir and a feed tube and thus the tattoo machine was born.

So, the next time you notice a tramp stamp on the backside of a hefty lady with a face that looks like a career boxer at the end of his career, you can thank Thomas Edison.

Yup, he was known to electrocute the washbins in his labs to startle his workers, disguise himself as an elderly person to catch people off guard, pay children to kidnap pets so that they could be tested upon (mostly electrocution), and let's not forget the infamous "you don't understand American humor" incident.
