On moon miranda.

Interesting, wasn't expecting that, was guessing it would be the Lizard-man previous Scourge host race.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

We had better see some ramshackle dropships! I already like the mad-max/terminator style appearance. If they get some sweet dropships to go along with these I will be all in.

Are those samples resin? Cause I they're switching to plastic isn't it stupid to bring something new out in the old medium?

So, how do these guys figure into the background? I was always under the impression that the PHR were the breakoff from the normal human faction.

Humanity has effectively branched into three segments.

United Colonies of Mankind: These men and women are the survivors of the Scourge invasion that escaped and successfully fled to the outer colonies. They have rebuilt with the sole purpose of reconquest.

Post Human Republic: The descendants of the followers of the white sphere. Pre-Scourge invasion they left in a mass exodus that culminated in a mini-civil war. This civil war arguably weakened the current human space forces to such a degree that defense against the Scourge was all but impossible. They did not reappear until just prior to the launch of the UCM's war of reconquest. Their entire culture now takes technology to the next level in the form of trans-human cybernetic augmentations.

Resistance: These are the fragments of humanity's prior civilization mentioned in the core rule-book who managed to remain autonomous on the cradle worlds after the Scourge invasion (likely through sheer tenacity, cunning, and luck). Their existence was a shock to the UCM who believed that no one would have survived the Scourge massacre.

Edit: For clarity.

They aren't "Switching" to plastic, merely bringing out a plastic starter set. And its not an old medium, resins are taking off at the moment, as they are great for operations with smaller casting runs, like most new and up and coming companies.

Lots of the guys now make everything in resin, and when something shows that it is viable through enough sales, gets upgraded to a plastic kit. Jumping to plastics for a new race without any indication of how it will sell would be foolhardy.

I realize resin isn't old in time, just THEIR old method of casting.

Resin is a great medium for small manufacturers, but for larger companies causes too many problems. It would be great for them if they moved completely to plastic, didn't realize is was ONLY going to be for the starter set.

Basically if they only do this set in plastic and not expand the rest of the range to that then I just won't get into it. There's enough out there trying to get my money, and price wise the resin costs of their models is too much for me. Yomv.

Obviously, at his level even if he did intend to move everything to plastics, he cannot afford to invest in new plastic molds for a new untested faction, that's potential suicide for a small company. Lots of other companies on the same level do the same thing.

Warmachine/Hordes
Dreamforge
Malifaux

You prototype it in Metal/Resin and if enough of those are sold, you can trust that it will sell in Plastic.

Spoiler:
The amount of detail dzc coaxed out of the resin is what makes it worthwhile for me, I am not interested in sacrificing quality to make it easier for children to assemble.

Ragtag Humans and Technicals? That just got me to buy this game.

I think their dropships could be things like re-purposed Haulers and commercial transport ships.

If that was the case I would buy this race without hesitation. The Resistance has a ton of potential.

Out of interest where did you find out that only the starter set is being done in plastic? The way Ive read the articles it looks like he's made nice with a plastics manufacturer who previously has t entered into the miniature game business. This could be very lucrative for both of them.
