which of the following sets has the most/most variable/best bitz?
assault squad
devastator squad
combat squad
also can anyone tell me or show me a picture of everything in the sm: commander plastic box set?

The assault squad has basically all the options a vanilla assault squad has.
the combat squad has bolters, nothing more.
The Devastator box has IIRC heavy bolters, multimeltas, plasma cannon, and lascannons. 2 of each IIRC. been a while since I bought a devastator box.
The SM commander has a chainsword, stormbolter, power fist(?), LC, and a combi-weapon.

Maybe not vanilla..... but Death Company have a lot of options in each box, although at $33 per five they aren't exactly cheap. You get five jump packs and backpacks, enough bolters to go around, plus pistols/hand flamers/infernus pistols, chainswords, a power sword, thunder hammer and power fist, along with a bunch of helmets and bare heads.

Correct on the Devastator box. I thought I ended up with an extra sprue but that's the way it comes. Think the commander
has a plasma pistol too.

devs have plasma cannons and lascannons. Those are the only two bitz out of all of those boxes you mentioned that will sell for much of anything.
