Hi all. I know it's a bit of an odd time to be writing up an army list for Vanilla Marines, with the new Codex and all. But I thought that it would be nice to see what people say about this list in the last couple of weeks before the Codex. Without further ado, here you go. All suggestions are welcome.

HQ - 180 points
Space Marine Librarian - 210 points
Terminator Armour
Storm Bolter
Force Staff
Epistolary

Troops - 620 points
Space Marine Tactical Squad - 210 points
+5 Marines
Flamer
Heavy Bolter
Sergeant with Bolt Pistol & Chainsword
Razorback

Space Marine Tactical Squad - 180 points
+5 Marines
Meltagun
Multi-Melta
Sergeant with Boltgun, Chainsword & Melta Bombs

Space Marine Scout Squad - 230 points
+5 Scouts
8 Snipers
Missile Launcher
Sergeant Telion
Camo Cloaks

Elites - 635 points
Dreadnought - 160 points
Heavy Flamer
Assault Cannon
Drop Pod

Terminator Squad - 475 points
4 Chainfists
Heavy Flamer
Land Raider

Heavy Support - 85 points
Predator - 85 points
Side Sponson Heavy Bolters

Fast Attack - 180 points
Land Speeder Squadron
3 Speeders
3 Heavy Flamers
3 Tornado Pattern Heavy Flamers

Total
1700 Points

So please tell me what you all think? I know the Marines are getting a Massive re-vamp in the new Codex, but I'm hoping to run something similar to this. Thanks all.

Home-Made Marines: 1750 points
Sa'Cea Sept Tau: 130 points (just started)
Svern Bloodhowl Space Wolves: 0 points. I wish I was rich...

Your second tactical squad needs a rhino or a drop pod if its going to be rocking short range assault weapons. If you are going to footslog it go with longer ranged guns such as plasma gun and a ML. Just a suggestion. Also, 4 chainfists is overkill. You only need two at most in a five man squad. I would say overall its a nice start, the list just needs for synergy.

Carcharodon Astra, by the Emporer it is willed.

For HQ it says 180 points and for the Libby it says 210 points. You need a transport for the 2nd tac squad. Thats pretty much all. I like it though

Drop the storm bolter and Epistolary from the Libby.
Use those points to upgrade the Dread to an Ironclad.
Add transport for tac#2 (rhino or drop pod) to get those meltas into range faster (and safer) than footslogging.

I would switch the terminators with assault termies, a mix of thunderhammers and lightning claws. Their land rider is usually the tool to bring them closer to their enemies, since they can assault as soon as they get out of it i would suggest they take their shields insted of storm bolters.

Another thing i realised with the space marines is that a tactical squad cant do much, specially if they are footslogging. Firening one bolter shot if they are not near is not going to do anything, and if something is purposly getting to them they are probebly going to get eaten anyways.
The trick with them is to deliver those boltershots fast and furious, preferebly with something to back them up. Taking the initiative and bringing the fight to the enemy is better with them, rather than sitting back and watching your opponent think what is the easiest way to take them down. So taking rhinos, drop pods or razorbacks is a must.
