Big 1850 tourney coming up, ideas for stopping the Wave Serpent spam lists and Tau gunlines that seem all over the place: the monolith

Has all of the tools to ruin a day. The destr-teks hop in the Ghost arks with the warriors, giving each one the ability to threaten vehicles at range or put a few wounds on a riptide/wraith knight. Toyed with the idea of trying 5xdest-tek squads in the ghost arks, but didn't have the points. The OL and Zahn go with the big 20man blob, they are going to hide behind the AV14 wall then be teleported up into rapid-fire death range. Also tossing the idea around to deep strike the monoliths and pull them through on turn 2 right in the thick of it.

Suggestions?

I actually like it.

there's only the problem of Lances from Eldar, but 2 of them landing in his face/arse turn two might be quite funny. Even funnier with Tau, especially with a Faresight Bomb landing, then have a Monolith land behind it and drop a Mono behind them. S8 AP3 to make a mess of all those lovely non-Shield-gen-because-they-need-target-locks XV8s with a 50% chance to kill the big shot himself. Love it

I think if I saw multiple wraithknights, I might hold in reserve and do a beta-strike type thing. Otherwise, I'd just put them both up front and just move forward, dropping pie plates and then pulling warriors through when I was in rapid fire range. Thanks for the feedback!

Be very careful of things like DS fusion crisis suits and riptides. I brought a mono last tourney and got destroyed by that t2

Interesting how Monolith's and armour are coming back because of Tau.

I played an AV13 list against a Tau opponent and utterly crushed him.

If you can find a way to engage or take out the rip tide fairly early they just don't have any counters for AV13+

Even with the tide he still has to Nova charge to get a Str 9 shot

Only problem with that is Hammerheads.

I dont thnk a Hammer will have a hard job downing an ark every turn, and Railsides would do an ok job of the same thing,

Fusion Suits will make short work of monoliths and against a Farsight bomb you will be boned
