As the title says who would win . The CH is the ultamate flyer killer but could it stand up to a hell drake. Could the CH avade the drake long enough to take it out. Is it possible to come in first and avoid being vector striked.

um... so many variables it isn't funny. The Heldrake could hit it with vector strikes... that's about it. At AP3. The Crimson Hunter has at least one lance, right? So ... either is possible but the CH is better suited for the task with it's weaponry.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

Battle-in-a-vacuum discussions always end up well...

On their own, the Hunter probably has an advantage as it is a fighter. The helldrake is less of a fighter and.more of a ground support unit. Of course, chaos havocs with flakk can start knocking out that Hunter, then the Eldar AA will do the same to the Heldrake...

CH would win 1v1, but everything in the game kills a CH where as its pretty tough to kill a helldrake. Thats the problem. CH just vector dancers around the helldrake for ages and the helldrake does nothing.

CH can take Brightlances for the Lance rule, but the Helldrake has armour of 12 or less anyway?
Or, it takes Starcannons for more shots. That'd be 6 shots per turn.

I don't know anything about the Helldrake, though.

Since the CH is a flyer-hunter, it's supposed to win.

They have a roughly even chance to take each other out, so the question is answered simply - who gets to attack the other first?

With BS5 and re-roll of penetration rolls against flyers, the CH would win if it goes first.

But since it's made of paper, going second means a loss.

Depends on where they start from each other. The Drake has to be close enough to pass it with the Vector Strike if it has the flamer. With the Autocannon, it is far less accurate and only *might* score a kill.

The Hunter has a good chance to hit with four shots, and each hit has a good chance to penetrate and cause a killing blow.

If the Drake only has the flamer I'm pretty sure the Hunter is guaranteed to never get hit, if moved right, regardless of which one goes first. The Drake can stretch things out but eventually it has to leave the board or get shot, and if it leaves the Hunter can follow and then arrive after the Drake in the next two turns.

What annoys me about the drake is how often people manage to get those 5+ invuls!
