All of my models are packed up since im moving (done with my military service so im returning to Nebraska) so all i can do right now is troll the forums and theorycraft.

Despite the rules straight up saying the otherway around is illegal, everyone says infiltrating a unit by attaching an infiltrating IC is illegal. But, outflank is different.

How suicidal or viable do you think it would be to have a loaded up Missileside group with Shadowsun outflanking? Little pricy yes but it would let your broadsides immediately get in range of something important and even with snaps (provided markerlights didnt get to support the snaps) theyre bound to pop something the turn they appear.

First, congrats on your ETS/EAS!

Second, this could potentially lay some hurt, assuming the outflank gods are in your favor. I can see a medium armour list trying to scoot up the side being great prey for this.

A hard multiplier for this would be to control fire lanes on the board, being able to funnel the opponent down one board edge, perhaps baiting him with a juicy target and leaving the main threat corridor from the flankers seemingly under protected. Funnel ripe targets into that killzone, and pow.

It took me a long time to finally understand the infiltrator rules and why you can't deploy the character and the unit together to get the rules, but I finally see they are right, and you can't infiltrate a character and a non-infiltrating unit.

I'd definitely consider it as a strategy against those poncy eldar wave serpent lists that can endlessly dance around your slowsides. Force him to potentially show you some armor facing's he doesn't want to.

I'd want to infiltrate some kroot up with the sides to protect them from counter assault units.

Some potential pitfalls stem from not having your whole force on the board. Tau are, as you guessed, a very alpha strikey army. Not having some of your guys on, and maybe not till turn 4, will suck.

The other problem is being out of ethereal support. I really rely on the ethereal's leadership.


If you want to be more reliable, it might just be better to use those markerlights and spirit of the zephyr to move the broadsides up the board faster than your opponent is ready for.

Yeah this would go with a decent size kroot blob, otherwise the entire enemy army will shoot the broadsides face off as its the only thing close to them lol

Also i thought Zephyr specifically mentioned pulse/carbine like the rapid fire one does? aside from the 6+ FNP or the leadership i dont remember there being any reason to have an ethereal away from firewarriors or kroot

EDIT: Forgot i didnt pack my codexes, only the BRB since its so big. Guess its only the storm of fire that affect pulse weapons and not every model. Hmm.
