I am going to start playing space marines pretty soon so I came up with a small list to get started.

HQ: Kayvaan Shrike

Troops: 2 tac squads with missle launcher and flamer transported by razorback with TL heavy bolter
(I will be splitting these swiss into combat squads)

Elites: 2 dreadnaughts with missile launcher and TL autocannon

Fast attack: 1 five man squad of assault marines to accompany Shrike.

That rounds out at about 1000 pts. I may have forgotten some upgrades on the assault squad and razorback, but that is the basic layout. Let me know if you think it is good, bad, or cheesy. Im open to critisism.

You'll have a rough time vs. AV14. Suggest giving your assault squad a meltagun. Seems like you have anti-horde and light vehicles covered.

I'm both chaotic and orderly. I value my own principles, and am willing to go to extreme lengths to enforce them, often trampling on the very same principles in the process. At best, I'm heroic and principled; at worst, I'm hypocritical and disorderly.

The core of tac squads is good, but I really would advise against Shrike in games less that 1500 points, as at this level he is too expensive for what he brings. I'd suggests you swap him for a JP chaplain, who will benefit the ASM more, and use the points you save for some more ASM. I'd also drop the dreads to get another tac squad and bring the ASM to 10 men. Also, bear in mind C:SM are getting a new codex next month, so it might be best to hold off buying models until that drops to see what's what. RG are set to get some cool chapter traits, and most stuff will be getting a bit cheaper.
