It's my competitive TAC list. It keeps evolving in minor ways...I dumped my Prism for upgrades and Vibrocannons...it just wasnt doing enough for me for it's point cost...besides being a fire magnet.

I know that people aren't going to like the Storm Guardians or Spears...but they've been game changers too many times for me to dump.

Farseer is the Warlord and goes with the Spears or Vaul's Wrath. Warlock goes where ever his power suits best.

HQ
-Autarch (Fusion Gun; Laser Lance; Jetbike; Mantle of the Laughing God)

-Farseer (Jetbike; Singing Spear)

-Warlock (Singing Spear)

TROOP
-10 Guardian Defenders
---Wave Serpent (TL Scatter Lasers; Holo-Fields)

-10 Guardian Defenders
---Wave Serpent (TL Scatter Lasers; Holo-Fields)

-6 Rangers

-10 Storm Guardians (Flamer x2)
---Wave Serpent (TL Scatter Lasers; Holo-Fields)

FAST
-Crimson Hunter

-4 Shining Spears (Exarch; Star Lance; Monster Hunter)

-6 Swooping Hawks (Exarch; Sunrifle)

HEAVY
-Falcon (Bright Lance; Spirit Stones; Holo-Fields)

-Night Spinner (Holo-Fields)

-3 Vaul's Wrath Support Battery (Vibro Cannon)

1848/1850

How effective do you find vibrocanon? Never used them.

I think you have managed to include just about everything that people don't put in netlists

10 man guardian squads in serpents
storm guardians
rangers
crimson hunters
shining spears
swooping hawks
Heavy Falcon
Vibro Cannons

But if it is working for you that all the more power.

My real comments would be a couple things, given that you probably want to keep most of the units the same and not go with the current netlists.

What role does the Falcon Play, might consider removing it for something else there are alot better shooting platforms in the eldar book.
Try to get an exarch for the crimson hunter.

My falcon is a designated tank and heavy infantry hunter...it also works as a useful transport for the rangers in a scoring game.

I really want that exarch but 20 pts for BS5 is a hard sell over some other upgrades for me. Spirit Stones and Warlock Singing spear gets me 15 points towards it...I can't see where the last 3pts come from.

Vibrocannons are ridiculous for being 90pts...and if you guide or prescience them...not that you need to often...its 3 lascannon hits 70% of the time.

I haven't personally heard of anyone not putting guardians in serpents though...

I think you'd probably be better off taking something other than a Falcon. If you're looking for infantry hunters, war walkers are amazing at that. Same goes for tank hunters.

However, what might be a better option for you would be to take Dark Reapers with starswarm missiles, depending on what kind of armor you're looking at. Robbing armor of a jink save is just nasty.

I am kind of looking at both heavy infantry and tanks with the falcon.

I just want that kind of firepower on a mobile and durable platform.

The MEQ lists put 5 man dire avenger squads in the serpents because they are cheaper than the 10 man guardian squads and do the same thing.

Im not with my books so i can see the direct substitues but really if you trim the points on the wave serpent squads and drop the falcon you will have enough to get a better heavy support and probably the exarch.

Also just an aside but if the rangers are stricly to capture a back field objective you might look into a 3 man jetbike squad. Hide it the whole game / keep it in reserves with autarch and you have a better objective taking squad for less points.

I put stones on all my non serpent tanks. They have come in handy way too offten to consider leaving them at home. In 1850 he is not missing anything critical that the stones are taking up. The ability to ignore stunned and shaken is well awesome.

I like your list it isnt your typical list so many people will have a problem seeing your strategy and thus countering it. I personally dont like the Night Spinner but hey if you like it go for it. Have you played any practice games yet? I'd be interested in hearing the results.

As for guardians outside a wave serpent, I frequently field a blob squad of 20 with brightlances and a warlock and do very well with them thanks to cover and conceal.

Oh the guardians are definitely staying...I don't want to decrease my damage output like that.

Do you walk the guardians, or do you fly straight towards them and unload them.

Oh sure...insight to the tactics of the list?

It's a turn 2 deathroller.

The premise is to assume that I never get turn 1...when I get it, all the better...but alpha strikes can lose just because they don't...alpha.

So If I go second...I have the Solitaire, 3 Serpents, Falcon, and Vaul's Wrath on the board.

The rest goes into reserve...the spears and farseer may stay out if there's cover.

Spears outflank when they'res vehicles to nuke. Otherwise they give the Farseer durability and MC and tank hunt.

The Nightspinner and Hawks are there to neuter infantry after I've opened up any transports in turn one. And I bring the Crimson Hunter in early if their flier is out or if they don't have a flier.

Turn 2 everything is in range to start assaulting and shooting.

I just started using the Vibros and find the to be one of the most cost efficient units in the book...less cost efficient to my wallet though.

Rangers use the Falcon to stay alive if need be.

My guardians are in their tanks 80% of the time. It's usually turn 4 or 5 where I unload and finish off squads.

Sounds like a good plan, I don't really doubt that the tools work for what they are intended, netlists will bring different counters IE fast shot exarch on icarus for Anti Air instead of crimson, shooting for tank hunting instead of spears (Brightlance War Walkers, or WraithKnight) but you have the toolbox you need to deal with every threat.

I guess i just don't understand what the guardian's targets are. Large Blobs with weapons platforms/warlocks on foot have a place, but what are 10 man squads in transports there to counter. I guess if you opponet is coming towards you they all pop out of transports and waste things with bladestorm, but really the majority of the meta is just going to either shoot you from longer range, or be able to handle those shots as they come in to murder the smallish squads in HtH.

I agree with eldar artillery being the most under used part of the codex, they are all amazing, and behind an aegis with a warlock they are downright difficult to kill, but as you said they are expensive, the squad is like 60 dollars for 90 points and I think the major barrier for wider adoption is alot of people just not having the models.

If the guardians are in the tanks, than why spend the extra points.

I get your drift now.

The Guardians are 25 points more for 5 more guns...10 more shots. If they're going to pop out last turn to waste a unit I would rather have the five extra guns for cheaper than less guns for even cheaper.

I often use them to kill most anything, MEQ, MCs, horde...as long as I whittled it down over the past few turns...I can nuke it. They're also great for handling things like broadsides.

I always need that infantry firepower...I just need it in the end game. The Storm Guardians are more of my run and die unit with their flamers...but they also tend to win against their intended targets...other less good T3 things.

Honestly...I wanted an army that was tough as a rock to crack open...and then I found myself needing some glass surgical tools to go in the army...but weren't vital to my success. My untis that can be easily killed...Spears, Hawks, The Spinner, the Hunter, usually only die after they've wreaked the damage I needed them to do...and if they absorb some fire...all the better for the rest of my list.

It just depends i guess on what you want to do with 3rd Heavy support, i would say look into using those extra points and the points from the falcon for a stronger shooting HS slot, but if you babysit the swooping hawks and the rangers with the transport capabilities, and your not getting out shot than the more power to you. Would love to see this list against some of the competative meta lists, wave serpent spam, tau, necron wraith/flyers.

I haven't faced other serpents but I can handle foot tau and necron fliers with ease thus far. Lots of mid strength weaponry just tickles my units.

The Sunrifle was added to my list in particular to counter these two armies.

GK/Tau allies are my biggest counter right now. That mid strength fire is harder to overcome when you have silver dudes coming at your serpents.
