Orks seem to be a much more rewarding race to play and collect. Necrons unfortunately are associated with a lot of negativity due to their strong codex.
With orks it is much easier to build a list with your own flavour spun into the mix. Plus if you like conversions/custom builds, you can justify almost anything with the ork codex.

This thread won't end well
Maybe you should give us your reasons why you like the armies and why you think you'll like the playstyle.
If you are wrong we could save you from disaster!

Do you like having models that look different from eachother?
Do you like painting?
Are you creative?
Do you want an army with personality?
If you answered yes to these questions, Orks are the obvious choice.

I have both an Ork and Necron army. Honestly, the Orks are much more fun to build, paint and play.
You get to have fun building mad Ork vehicles. And I find you have much wider options of gameplay with Orks.
Sure, Necrons do look cool are probably easier to win with at the moment. But Orks are much more fun

Orks hands down. Orks get all the cool toys from all the cool armies. Whether it be Plasma Cannons (ahh the days when a roll of 1 for lootas resolved the attack against the unit...) or even a terrifying beastie like a carnifex. Orks want it. Orks get it.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.
Orks always ride in single file to hide their strength and numbers.

Depends on your playstyle.
I don't personally like the Style of Orks, so I'd go with Necrons. It

Take one and ally in the other. Orks can benefit from ranged Anti-Tank such as heavy destroyers, and anyone can benefit from a screaming band of Nob Bikers or some cheapo battlewagons

This.
Really though I play both and love them each on their own.
Orks have a LOT of versatility and are always fun for me to play because some of the rules are just plain random and ork-like. The current rumor is that Orks will get a new codex by end of the year; however, that's still a rumor until it happens.
Necrons are a very tactical army. Competitively, they have a few builds that all depend on spamming a specific strength. Unlike orks, the vibe of playing necrons is very different (for me anyways).
For me
Necrons are about the objectives and about tactics.
Orks are for leading a war tribe how you want to lead a war tribe.
Between the two (current codices), Necrons is agruably stronger; however, Orks have a better variety of usable units in my opinion.
My Vote - Ork
