Behind you...

I had a game with my friend the other day when I killed of his company command squad, well almost. His Commander survived and joined a unit of vets. I then killed the commander but did not kill the vets. The CCS would have given me first blood and we where a bit confuse as to whether I got first blood. I killed the first whole unit but during that time he merged with another unit. I didn't get FB (dice roll off!) but was wondering whether I should have.

CCS does not contain an independent character so can't join other units. He would have been a unit of one and you hadn't killed the whole unit if you didn't kill the Commander.

You got FB when you killed the CCS. If not, the when you killed the commander, assuming that was prior to him killing one of your units.

Works the same way as first blood off a rhino.

What Pretre said. A CCS is a 5 man squad. The Company commander is not an IC. So cannot join a vet squad. It used to be this way in the previous codex, but it is no longer played like that. So, to get 1st blood off a CCS all 5 models must be destroyed including the commander.

For 1st blood think, does Purge the Alien give a point for this? If so, it would also give 1st blood.

You missed that there was no way for the commander to join the vets, as they are a character, not an IC.

there is no company commander model.........

A company command squad consists of 1 apothecary, and 4 vets (1 of which can be upgraded to company champion).

If he had his Captain attatched to them, and the vets and apothecary were killed, First Blood was scored for the CCS.

Killing the captain later on would have also potentially netted him warlord, assuming he was the opponents warlord.

You obviously haven't seen the Imperial Guard codex... there are armies other than Marines y'know.

Step 1) Pick up Imperial Guard Codex
Step 2) Learn something new
