Subject: Nurgle Daemon Prince and Nurgle Chariot core: what am I missing?

As the title reads, I've heard quite a few times that this list is pretty rough and beats face in. How exactly does it work, and what are the recommended ways of running it? I come from a competitive town that loves running the hardest units possible, so I was curious and thought I'd get input. The tactics section seemed the most appropriate place for it, as I'm asking for tactics and build suggestions.

The build is rather simple, but has slight changes person to person. It usually breaks down to the following:
Nurgle DP
Nurgle chariots
Mounted BSB
Chimeras and/or Skullcrushers
I took the list to the Buckeye Battles GT in Deleware Ohio this past July and went 5-0. The list is pretty easy to play with and is usually just point and shoot or overrun really. But the tournament paired lists together based on comp score, so against other tough armies your tactics will be come slightly more complicated. Here's what my list looked like for the tournament at 2400pts.
Daemon Prince
-Nurgle
-Lv. 4
-Sword of striking
-Chaos armor
- Scaly skin
- Soulfeeder
-Familiar
-Breath Weapon
-Charmed Shield
-Lore of Death
Exalted hero
-Tzeetch
-Disc
-Enchanted shield
-Tailsman of preservation
-Third eye of tzh
-Great Weapon
-Burning body (flaming attacks)
-Hideous visage(cause fear)
Chariot x 5
-Nurgle
Gore beast chariot
-Nurgle
Chimera x 3
-Regen
-Breath weapon
Like I said before, the list is pretty damn easy to use. The thing that everyone knows, but doesn't really realize until your first turn is just how fast this list is. Most of your army will be charging turn 2 90% of the time. Your (or at least my) greatest weakness is the LD 5 on the chimeras, but it is easily negated by hugging them 18in or less away from the prince for his LD 9. The chariots I've found are disposable and extremely durable, so don't be afraid If th to make single charges with them, however I'd protect the chimeras as best you can and have them all tag team units together. The DP is virtually cannot die. I’m not saying it’s impossible, but it can happen and the number of things that can kill him effectively is on one hand. I personally have lost him only once to a unit of corsairs that had their LD or ST switched. Outside of that cannons are about the only thing effective at killing him, but even then it relies pretty heavily on the opponents rolling and that’s why you take the charmed shield. With WS9 and -1 to hit, most units in the game are hitting you on 6’s. The Chimeras dish out a crazy amount of attacks too. 6+d3+ d6 thunderstomp+one use st4 2d6 when needed. This army can absolutely wreck lists, especially infantry heavy lists. I’ve also been told that my BSB build is one of the most annoying out there. I’ve only every lost it to breaking from combat. It is great at killing war machines and monsters, as it has st7 and flaming attacks (most monsters rely on regen) and is a great supporting unit to charge in with a chariot and chimera. Never be afraid to take 8-11in charges with the chariots either. One of the army’s greatest strengths is having just about everything with swiftstride. Perhaps the best thing to do with this list is just to simply overwhelm a flank of the opponent with multiple chimeras, the DP and the BSB while slowly moving up with chariots on the other side, it makes any opponent really hard pressed to make adjustments to the flank that’s being overrun by monsters as they still have to make sure they’re not giving the fleet of chariots a flank charge.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, the lore of death works really well and can help you to snipe out annoying character models and BSBs before you ever have to reach them in close combat. Nurlge works well too, especially if you're lucky enough to get off the attribute once or twice, but Death is far more efficient IMO.

I understand you're mostly relying on your ward, but don't the two underlined items conflict? Wouldn't you not get the shield's bonus in CC since you're using the great weapon.

It sounds like a pretty impressive power list though, maybe I'll give it a try sometime. We never run net lists, not even prep against them: it would be nice to try one out and see how well it works. My friend usually has no issues at tournaments either, he usually wins. I've only beaten him once, but the other guys we play with I can beat (and do) on a regular basis. Well, as regularly as I play. Lol. Which was twice in the past year.

Worth noting that Khorne chariots can be very effective too. 2 extra S5 attacks is nice and T6 is pretty good defence even without the -1 to hit.
Sword of Striking is great for DP, but so is OTS, depending on which armies you reckon you might face.

I know it's only 5 pts but is Hideous visage really necessary when the disc already causes fear? As streamdragon pointed out, he's only a 3+ 3++ in CC which is still insanely good but unless you roll like me lol. In this tournament that you went 5-0, did you play any Watchtower or Blood and Glory?
