I hope most of the dakkadakkaites know of the wealth of quality podcasts out there for the 40k community. I'm curious if those of us who do listen to these excellent hobby shows have their own personal favorite(s)

For me, there is only 3. I've tried many many podcasts. Some are well done, but not my taste. Others sound like they were recorded in a grade school gym during PE.

#1) 40k Radio. While at best you'll get 3 episodes every 2 months, and they love their tangents and soapboxes, this was the show that turned me on to 40k entertainment. They're simply the show that I find the most entertaining and interesting to listen to
#2) the Independent Characters. Polished, excellent and up to date content, very entertaining, a variety of materials.... great warrior lodge and black library segments
#3) 11th Company. If 40k Radio is the flashy controversial QB of the 40k podcast football team and the Independent Characters are the well-oiled receiver and running back corps that everyone knows is the heart of the team... the 11th Company is Bill Belichick. While it may not be as entertaining as the first two (well, it just isn't... and I don't know that they're even trying to be), the 11th Company is a MUST for anyone even thinking about tournament play or building a competitive list. They also have tons of diverse segments, but it all feels more like hearing the most brilliant professor give a solid lecture that shifts your view. For pure 40k knowledge, the 11th Company is where to go.

40k Radio = DieHard
the Independent Characters = Godfather II
the 11th Company = Ken Burn's Civil War

Which podcasts do the rest of you make sure to catch?

The Independent Characters is great, I can't really stand anybody else though. I've listened to The Overlords, but my uncultured American ears can't always parse what they're saying.

Deepstrike is my fav as well. They're totally fluff based, and they give some really great insight into the story that is 40k. They also have some cool sections in which they build fluffy lists based the the faction that they just covered.

I'm a fan of the 11th Company, I've had the good luck of meeting a couple of the guys, solid dudes in person which makes it even better.

Independent Characters are good, Deepstrike Radio is good and I am personally a fan of the Heroic 28s. A Texas podcast that is more "locally" themed but is fun to listen to (and includes quite a few tangents).

I was also on the Heroic 28s to talk about IG, so I might be a little biased.

I've been doing the 'simhammer' segments for that podcast.
Thanks for the feedback. I'll try and figure out ways to make them more entertaining.

The 11th Company Podcast have were incredibly helpful when we were getting our abomination of a podcast off of the ground and they still are. Those dudes are absolutely great.

The Heroic 28s are both good and local. The hosts are very knowledgeable and great to talk to.

Although we hit a smaller audience than they do, we're happy to run promos for both of those podcasts because, as a group, we all really enjoy their episodes.

I'd also suggest Skullbros Awesome, but they do tend to focus more on Fantasy. The humor and attitudes of the guys on that show fall more in line with my kind of humor.

I out with in both 40k and WHFB.
