HQ - Farseer w/ Jetbike
- Warlock w/ Jetbike
Troop: 7x Windrunner Jetbike Squad w/ 2x shuriken cannon
Troop: 10x Dire Avenger
Troop: 10x Guardian w/ warlock, shuriken cannon
Dedicated Transport: Wave Serpent w/ scatter laser, shuriken cannon, holo-field
Dedicated Transport: Wave Serpent w/ scatter laser, shuriken cannon, holo-field
Fast Attack: 10x Warp Spider w/ exarch, twin-linked gun, fast shot
Fast Attack: Crimson Hunter Exarch
Fast Attack: 2x Vyper w/ shuriken cannon, scatter laser, holo-field
Heavy Support: 2x Falcon w/ shuriken cannon, scatter laser, holo-field
The thing I'm not sure of is whether this list should be running falcons or Fire Prisms. I've had a lot of success with falcons, even more success with vypers, and in general I have few complaints, but people keep telling me that Fire Prisms might be better.
Mobility and cover saves are the name of the game here. If I don't go first, I use terrain as best I can to give my vehicles cover on turn 1. Most of the time, jetbikes will have a 3+ cover to go with their 3+ armor (2+ cover if they turbo-boost). With holo-fields, all the vehicles are rocking 4+ saves just for having moved, and even the Vypers can be surprisingly durable. Where the list struggles is against heavy armor. To some extent, this can be mitigated by its speed: I've gotten no small number of vehicle kills by having my Vypers move flat-out turn one to position them to get into a tank's rear armor on turn 2 (works best if there's LoS blocking terrain between us, but if not, hey, 3+ cover), and then hosing said tank down with 14 strength 6 shots to the rear armor. But that won't work in every situation, and against something like a Land Raider, I have only three models even capable of damaging them (Crimson Hunter, Falcons, and in the case of the Falcons, I need 6s).
So... thoughts?

If you struggle against heavy armour, then Fire Prims may well be something you should look into as they pen AV14 on a 4+ and are AP1 to boot. I run a Crimson Hunter Exarch and a Fire Prism at 1750 and I've had very few problems with AV14 unless it's taken en masse.
Falcons are good, though normally when transporting 6 Fire Dragons for example, but I think at least one Fire Prism would be a good addition. I'd personally drop the Vypers since, in my experience, such units tend to give away First Blood too easily. If you've had success with them though, by all means stick with them.

You are rocking a serious amount of S6...a lot of S6. Dakka is not even a problem.
Vypers are plenty fine for the style of the list. Yes they are flimsy, and yes they will go down easily. However, they are farily cheap and fairly effective is used right.
I agree about swapping the falcons to prisms. The prisms give you Ap3 large blasts for hordes, and S9 ap 1 lances are insanely dangerous to any tank around. You have a 50% chance of any hit causing a pin(better against AV10/11), and a 50% chance of the pin being an explosion. Guide them and watch their lances rip through raiders and the like.
With the spare points you can hand out spears for your psykers. A note on your jetbike warlock, consider rolling and trying to get protect/jinx. 2+ armor bikes are a very good thing to have.

I'll give the fire prisms a shot. And hey, if I grab guide + prescience, I can twin link both.

I have a personnel disagreence with falcons, so I. Naturally going to recommend fire prisms.

I dont get the vypers. there are so many better choices. for instance: 5 warp spiders have basically the same mobility, cost way less points than 2 vypers and get 2 more shots for the "squad" at higher str vs vehicles that also have monofilament. 6 guardian jetbikes for the same cost as 2 vypers gives you 4 more bodies, a scoring unit, 2 less str 6 shots but you get 8 more regular shots that all have rending and twin linked. Edit for both examples: I forgot the vypers have a cannon aswell, but most of my points still stand.

Four reasons, really:
1 - I'm already running all the jetbikes and warp spiders that I own
2 - They're extremely in-theme for this particular army
3 - That much dakka on that fast of a relatively cheap mobile platform is surprisingly useful - especially when it has a 4+ cover save just for having moved
4 - I like them.

Falcons is nonono. Use Fire Prisms or Warwalkers. Get around and buy some Hornets. They are the new black. Automatically Appended Next Post: You also might need some more scoring units. If you dont table your enemy, you will loose in most cases.
