Template weapons have been making me syratch my head lately.
I've always used the assumption that template weapons ignore models from the same unit, the same as any other shooting attacks butvsomeone at my gaming group challenged this and after looking through the rulebook am still uncertain. Under template weapons the wording does suggest you should avoid hitting members of your own squad and all models unter the template are hit.
So do template weapons hit friendly models from the firing unit if thir base is under the template?

IIRC, you cannot target enemy units and their models with templates if you have any friendly models under the template. However, if it is a blast or large blast and it scatters over friendly models, you will have to take wounds and saves.

Are you talking about templates (teardrop) or blast markers (circles)? You cant place a template over your own models. If you'd have to place them over your models to hit your enemy you cant shoot.
If you are taking about blast markers. You cant place them on your own models too. If they scatter and they hit your unit you have to wound and take saves.

Templaye teardrop. So you can't even shoot if you'd be hitting your own models. Damn. Guess I'll have to set up flamer unirs in a V formation when posible so the flamer dosen't have to be the nearest model when they return fire. What's the page ref for not hitting friendly models with the template?
Also can you still use the wall of death (D3 hits in over watch) if you have models infront of models with template weapons when tou get charged?

1) Look up template weapons in the BRB, very obvious in that section
2) Yes, as you dont place the template with Wall of Death. You can wall of death if the unit charging is more than ~8" away as well.

In the old book, Flamers of Tzeentch had a secondary weapon with a range. With the loss of this gun, Flamers have become much more difficult to use. When DSing, units of three are the way to go, since any more means some models won't be able to fire at all on the turn they arrive!
