'lo thar

I'm pretty new the 40k, only about 3 months and already I have heard a lot of "bad things" being aimed at matt ward.

Just wondering why? I don't really know anything myself, but I do know about the high pricing of miniatures, ESPECIALLY here in Oz. And there is some god awful gak in the BA codex. Did he have something to do with one of these?

Any info that can help me refine my hatred would be wonderful

One thing I just found on the GW website just now on the necron monolith page was this:

Mat Ward from Games Development says:
The Monolith has long been a much-feared opponent, and now it's deadlier than ever. Whilst it's tempting to deploy the Monolith at the start of the game, it's almost always wiser to keep it in reserve - that way you can Deep Strike it onto an enemy-held objective. Once the Monolith has scoured the foe from the immediate area (try and eliminate melta weapons first - they can be a real problem) you can then use its eternity gate to teleport in a suitable scoring unit and take the objective for yourself. When the enemy counter attacks, simply switch the eternity gate into its portal of exile mode, and suck the primitives to their doom!

and after reading all about how people dislike his OP units... lol.

I think they should have more tactics advice like this in the product descriptions. Buying things based on looks/fluff is one thing, but for people who put the gaming side first but maybe don't read forums and so on some information on what the unit can actually do in the game is a good idea...

Sure, but i just found it funny that even though he gets a lot of crap hurled at him for his OP units the opening sentence is:

The Monolith has long been a much-feared opponent, and now it's deadlier than ever

I agree though, that the tactical part has helped me in earlier days and regardless of who writes it a brief summary of the unit is always handy to have. (although it's right next to the button that lets me change the country so I can see the prices in the uk compared to here )
