I had to remove the pictures for silly reasons, so this report is crap now, don't bother reading.

Hey guys,

1st post!

There's a group of guys that I play with at work, and I thought I'd start to share some of our battle reports. We all started playing about the same time a year and a half ago, so we're still pretty new to the game. We use the BAO rules format, this game was 1850 points. I have a Chaos Space Marine army which I've started allying with Tau. I find the CSM Codex doesn't have any good options for backfield troops that contribute other than running in Cultists Going to Ground whenever they're shot at, or Noise Marines with Blastmasters, which isn't possible because I'm playing a Nurgle army. They also have nice anti-air which I find to be a problem in the CSM Codex.

I didn't feel like I played a very good game, starting off with thinking that the Medusa only had small blast template shots instead of large which ended up costing me almost all of my Obliterators and Broadsides which kind of screwed me from the get go. They also had direct hits every single shot except for 1 miss on Turn 5 which didn't help anything. Another spot I think I messed up was the Mathhammer in my head or shot under-odds (6 Plasma and 48 Pulse Rifles = 1 dead Term) when taking on the Terminators, and had to actually backtrack with my bikes to prevent all my Troops from being destroyed by the Terminators which was a total disaster. But either way, always good to post stuff, as it's usually clearer why you lost when looking at the pictures in hindsight!

We're also getting a table mat from Zuzzy which should make the Battle Reports look a whole lot better. We're mostly painted at this point, but it still looks a bit crap when you're playing on a pine board. Any comments on the battle report format are welcome.

Thanks guys, enjoy!

IG List:
Spoiler:

Lord Commissar
Marbo
Inf Platoon - x2 Autocannons and a Command Squad
Vet Squad in Chimera x3 Meltaguns
Vendetta
Hydra Flak Tank
2 Leman Russ Punisher (squadron)
2 Medusa (squadron)
DA Librarian
5 Deathwing Knights

Fortification Deployment:
Spoiler:

Army Deployment:
Spoiler:

Deployment Flavor:
Spoiler:

Turn 1 - IG:
Medusa's absolutely destroy everything as my stuff was packed way too close together thinking it was small blast.
Punishers both roll 1's to get over the Aegis and are immobilized
Heavy bolters manage to slip through the rest of the Broadsides 2+ save and they take 3 more wounds
Deathwing Knights deep strike right behind my line on the hill
Spoiler:

Turn 1 - CSM:
Instead of turning everything on the Deathwing Knights and getting 1st Blood, I send the Bikes off and shoot the Broadsides and Oblits at the Medusas, killing one and getting Crew Shaken on the other
6 Plasma shots, 18 Bolters, and 40 something Pulse Rifle Shots later I kill 1 Terminator. I move the Plague Marines to block the Terms from wading through Fire Warriors
Cadre Fireblade uses Split Fire to shoot the quad gun at the Medusas doing another HP or so.
Spoiler:

Turn 1 - Flavor:
Spoiler:

Turn 2 - IG:
Marbo comes out and explodes the rest of the Oblits/Broadsides along with the newly arrived Vendetta
Deathwing Knights assault the Plague Marines (and hit at AP3 due to the "I hate CSM Codex rules", anyone else dislike specialized rules targeting a certain codex for no gameplay reasons but just for fluff? I sure do)
I manage to make 5 out of 5 Feel No Pain rolls so somehow they're still alive and doing well! Thankfully he forgot to use his S10 kill everything mode on the maces the whole game.
Spoiler:

Turn 2 - CSM:
Bikes backtrack.....
Heldrake Vector Strikes Marbo and then bakes 8/10 or the Tactical Marines. I'd like another Heldrake in my army if they didn't cost so damn much $$$ and could get over my reluctance to paint another one of those badboys.
Heldrake also suffers a wound to Daemon Forge.....which turns out to be a big deal, especially since I forget to roll for It Will Not Die at the end of my turn to try and get it back.
Plague marines somehow do crazy well in assault again, and it's looking like my bikes may not have needed to come back.
Spoiler:

Turn 2 - Flavor:
Spoiler:

Turn 3 - IG:
Vendetta and Flak tank both shoot at Heldrake somehow leaving it with 1 HP left ( I made a decent amount of Inv saves ). Right when I think I'm safe and can Vector Strike the crap out of the Medusa and roast his IG HQ, he remembers at the very end of the shooting phase that he has 1 autocannon that can see it and it snap fires, rolling 2 6's and then pens with both, I save one but the Turkey's done.
Spoiler:

Turn 3 - CSM:
Quad gun doesn't do jack to the Vendetta with it's 2nd round of shooting
Bikes charge the Terminators doing a whole lot of nothing
Plague Marines with plasma shoot at Vendetta, and manage to kill themselves.
Spoiler:

Turn 3 - Flavor:
Spoiler:

Turn 4 - IG:
Vendetta kills quadgun
Heavy Bolters on the Punishers have been killing a few firewarriors every turn
Finally kill the rest of the Terminators, my Chaos Lord gets some crap ability from the Boon table
[spoiler[/spoiler]

Turn 4 - CSM:
Bikes zoom forward
Lord splits off with the remaining Plague Marines to grab the objective and soak some wounds. Objective ends up being Skyfire
Firewarriors start to back away from the heavy bolters, which is something I should have done like 3 turns ago....
Spoiler:

Turn 5 - IG:
Vets in Chimera make a play for the relic
More shooting at Tau
Vendetta makes a play at the Plague Marines
Spoiler:

Turn 5 - CSM:
I only have 1 chance to win this turn, and that's if my Plague Marines 01 at the top of the board can kill the 1 marine within 3" of his BGNT obj, which they can't do.
Plague Marines with skyfire shoot at vendetta and roll 3 1's, killing one of them. Not a good game for plasma.
Bikes keep flying up the side
Spoiler:

Turn 6 - IG:
Guys jump out of Vendetta and kill the last plague marine and the chaos lord has 1 wound left, which means I'm pretty screwed as I can't really win on BGNT without the bikes doing something
He grabs the relic
Spoiler:

Turn 6 - CSM:
Firewarriors shoot the hell out of the IG with the Relic, they may have dropped it I can't remember.
Bikes are completely blocked from the BGNT obj on his side, and I roll a 3 for my charge so I can't even contest it (which would have required winning combat and him running with a Commisar, so kind of a longshot anyway)
Spoiler:

Victory for IG

Hey buddha,

I can't really say since I haven't tried the Tau allies with a Riptide yet, but it's on the list. However, the Broadsides have done really well for me in general. In this specific game the Broadsides didn't do too much since they were killed prematurely by the Medusas, and the firewarriors weren't so great as they were usually forced to go to ground due to all the artillery and heavy bolters, but it was a good way to sink a bunch of wounds with a 2+ save. In other games I've found the Broadsides great for wiping out the aircraft and light vehicles like the Medusas, even down 1 Broadside I was still able to kill one and take a couple HP off the other in just 1 round of shooting. They've also been good for clearing nasty stuff like FMC's out of the sky. I've had a game versus Daemons where the Broadsides + Fire warriors completely carried the game for me. It's also pretty sweet being able to clear troops of mid objectives or even obj's right on the edge of the enemy deployment zone with that 30" Pulse Rifle range. With all the tough assaulty CSM stuff, I've never really had them be in any danger either so they're free to just sit there on the objective and clean up. The Cadre's also a nice cheap HQ force modifier since once you're on the objective/Quad gun there's never a reason to move, and with Split Fire he makes the Aegis + Quad gun really effective.
