I'm looking into a new ally for my IG and was thinking GK. just wondering what other dakka users have done with this kind of set up and what they thought of it?

I enjoy the termies, and the ability to deny deep strikes behind my line.

I would sign this contract but I already ate the potato

Most minimalistic alliance I came up with is coteaz with 2 squads of henchmen with plasma guns in chimeras. You get cheap divination and two units that basically work like regular plasma vets. You save 45 points per henchmen vs vet unit too. You lose out on bs 4 but quantity is its own virtue. Coteaz mans a lascannon blob and can give it divination or let orders take care of twin linking against vehicles and mcs. The divination ensures that manticores and other artillery is twin linked.

GK are only Allies of Convenience, so the Divination from Coteaz can only affect the GK part of the army.

That said, I've seen IG brought in as allies to a GK army. The other way around presents different opportunities. My favorite way to use GK as allies is to run Draigo with 5 Paladins. Nice solid rock in the middle of things.

That's kinda what I was thinking, was draigo with some paladins, but I was also thinking about the grey knights in power armor that have warp quake ( can't think of units name at moment) that would help deny deep strikes behind my line, just don't know what HQ would be good for it.

If I was to do GK with IG allies, what opportunities would that open?

the killer warp quake combo is coteaz in a cheap 100 point quad incinerator purgation squad. Move them into a henchman's chimera, and when you get to place a mishap place them in flamer range. With no chance to spread out every model in the unit should take 4 hits at s6.

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

Can't work. IBEY is a special ability that requires LoS. As such, it can never be used from inside a vehicle as the only thing you can use fire ports for is a shooting or witchfire attack.

Never mind about inside the Chimera then, keep them on foot behind a chimera. Same net result of 4 hits at s6 per squad member.
