Just got around to taking pics of this today. A Blood Angels Death Company Dreadnought I painted for a friend, who has affectionately named him 'Brother Chuckles'.
Hope you like him!

Awesome work, the contrast between the claws and the really deep black is great.

This is beautiful and base is very well made. The blending on the claws is pretty amazing. Great work all around.

That name really did it for me, for some reason I just get the feeling that behind all that rage he's just a really nice guy. Nice job on the paint job, the base really seals the deal, sure to be a feature on the table.

See, this is why I don't come to the showcase. Every time I come it makes me wanna cry about my painting. Good Job though, keep it up. -Feasible

Absolutely superb! May I ask how the black armour was done? Airbrush? If so/not which paints did you use?

Definitely looks airbrushed. Just a medium grey over flat black, I would guess, with panels masked off at the hard edges. Nothing too complicated in terms of recipe, "simply" artfully applied, wherein lies the challenge. Everything is great - claws, details, chipping, basing - but I find the black the most impressive feature. Good contrast, but very smooth and rather subtle.

Great work!

Cheers chaps!

Odie is correct – the black was just black primer (I use Vallejo Polyurethane, applied with an airbrush) and then Vallejo Model Air German Grey applied towards the bottom of each panel, with the panel below masked to get the hard edge. I kept the body, arms and legs separate while doing this to make it easier.

The paint chipping is just Boltgun Metal applied with a small piece of sponge held by tweezers.

The claws were airbrushed (again, before assembling with the arms) using Vallejo Model Air White all over, Light Sea Blue bottom two thirds, Dark Sea Blue bottom third.

Blending is great and looks like there is a good amount of highlighting on the armor itself. Not sure if it is just your lights but it looks like that on the shoulders and lower right leg.

Thanks guys

Rotary, the highlights on the armour are painted – glad they look like they're caused by the light – mission accomplished!
