I'm not sure if anyone would be keen on doing this but I'd be interested to see how other people would build an army list out of my available models.

The reason being is that I've thought about my various different build ideas a lot and feel like I could use from fresh perspective in case I'm missing any good ways to field my army. It would also be good to make an army list without any plans to buy more models but feel free to suggest any I should buy.

So, I have built:

1 Leman Russ Battle Tank, hull HB
1 Chimera w/ Multi-laser, hull HB and HF switch-able
2 Scout Sentinels w/ autocannons

1 Company Command squad
2 Platoon command squads
4 infantry squads

5 Flamer guys
1 Heavy Flamer guy
5 Grenade launcher guys
1 Sniper rifle guy
3 Meltagun guys
1 Plasma gun guy
1 Medic
1 Standard bearer
6 Vox-caster guys
1 Master of Ordnance

1 Commissar w/ Bolt pistol
5 Ratlings

2 Heavy bolter Heavy Weapon Teams
3 Lascannon Heavy Weapon Teams
4 Missile launcher Heavy Weapon Teams
3 Mortar Heavy Weapon Teams

If anyone fancies throwing together a list with any of that I'd appreciate your insights.

(Don't really expect anyone to do this but someone might be bored haha)

UK

Here goes:

CCS, Standard, MOO: 95

4 ratlings: 50

Marbo: 65 (just use a random guardsman)

PCS, 4x flamer: 50
PIS, melta, LC: 80
PIS, melta, LC: 80

PCS, 4x GL: 50
PIS, melta, LC: 80
PIS, plasma gun, ML: 80 (note: if you can get the bits to make this melta/LC, then it would be better)

HWT, 3x mortar: 60
HWT, 3x ML: 90

2x Scout Sentinels, AC: 80

LRBT: 150

Total: 1000

This gives you a good core to build on for the most part. The HWs would be better in a few more IS, rather than separate, but that will be a pretty large investment, so maybe not.

The LRBT is not the best variant, do you have any other gun options? If not, then the LRBT will do.

The scout sentinels are ok, outflank them and go for side armour, but don't expect them to survive.

The Other Option: If you can get a 2 chimeras and a few more plasma/melta guns, you could swap out a platoon for some chimera-mounted vets. This brings you close to 1200 points, though.

Hope that helps.

Wow that was quick, hello again Paradigm Thanks for taking the time to do that, it looks similar to one that I've done in the past, although I'd never thought of putting the Lascannons and the Meltaguns across the standard Infantry squads. I quite like the idea, it seems a good way to protect the expensive weapons and to give the squads a dual purpose.

Would you group the infantry squads together or keep them seperate? Together seems better for any orders and absorbing casualties but is less flexible..

I have been wanting to try out Marbo but wanted to wait til I made a cool model for him, but I could definitely just try him out with a random guy (not sure how this hadn't occurred to me lol).

And yes I have loads of spare parts so I could knock up another meltagunner and Lascannon team.

The LRBT is all glued together with just standard battle cannon and heavy bolter so I won't be able to change that, but it seems to perform well enough so far (apart from my last game.. lost it in turn 1 to an incredibly lucky orbital bombardment >.> )

Outflanking autocannon sentinels have been very effective for me so far

Thanks Paradigm that looks pretty good, and stops me from spending any more money! How would you manage the two platoons though? I never know if I should start moving them to objectives straight away or keep them still for some ordered shooting or what? I guess it depends on the mission and opponent I can just get a couple more games in and practice.

Thanks again for your time

EDIT: Also, are mortar HWS actually effective? I built them to play against orks but haven't used them at all yet. They do anything against MEQ armies?

I'd personalluy blob them in all missions , as that way you double the effectiveness of BID/FRFSRF, have to take twice the casualties before you fall back, and give up FB less easily. The meltas should be more defensive, a deterrent to any tank coming near you, rather than an offensive weapon.

Marbo is epic, just target something nasty and press the button so to speak. Remember he also has meltabombs, so if he surives a turn (somehow) then run him at a tank and make it blow up.

With the LRBT as it is, then just make MEQ the primary target, and use the IS LC for vehicles.

The mortar HWTs are more to fill points, and theoretically they can be good against light infantry. They are less good against MEQ, but the thing they have going for them is that they can deploy out of LOS and fire barrage, mitigating the traditional weakness of the HWT to high S weapons and low LD. Just treat them like mini-artillery and see how it goes.

Hmm... this is tricky. How about...

CCS - lascannon, master of ordnance, standard, camo cloaks

stormtroopers (10) - 2x flamers
stormtroopers (10) - 2x meltas
stormtroopers (10) - 2x meltas (proxy a plasma for a meltagun)

Veterans - 3x flamers, lascannon, camo cloaks
Veterans - 3x sniper rifles (use ratlings), lascannon, Harker (use the commissar), camo cloaks

Obviously you'd just be using regular guardsmen for the stormtroopers. In any case, the strategy would be to hide with the vets and CCS on objectives and plink at stuff with lascannons while 30 BS4 guardsmen with carapace, krak grenades, and Ap3 small arms (much less their specials) clean up everything else.
