Subject: Lady Commissar (from Raging Heroes). First attempts at NMM and other techniques.

Hey all. Recently I decided to try to up my painting skills, so I thought I'd give some new techniques a try. This is a first attempt at NMM as well as my first time using some powdered pigments (not much used on this model though). Also went for a more urban combat basing style than I usually use.
Overall I'm ok with the progress I've made when compared to previous models I've painted. Faces and Skintone are improving (but still need work, Now that the pics are blown up I see some skin touchups that need doing at the hand and leg), and I'm getting better with blending/shadows/highlights, etc. I need more practice with the NMM, just need to do it a bunch more times so it becomes more intuitive (so I spend less time thinking/second guessing myself) and get better contrasts in there.
Let me know what you guys think, I'm in an 'improving my skills' mode, so tips and advice are very welcome.
Thanks for looking!

Raging Heroes' Malinka Kurganova is a great model. (My least favorite of the Kurganova sisters, but that's a close race!) I'd have liked to see a little more detail on the 'Hello Kitty' skull pin, since it's my favorite detail of the model, but that's just me.
I agree that enlarging the irises would remove that wide-eyed look, but other than that it's a great piece. Especially from the back, the model is amazing. Great detailing and shading on that greatcoat.

Tongue seems a bit too bright of a red. Otherwise I love it! Irises look fine to me.

Thanks for the comments so far guys, I appreciate it.
I think its the right eye that need a tiny bit more iris (on the nose side). I'll try that and see how it looks. I'll pick out some of the hello kitty detail too... I need to invest in a magnifying glass at some point.

Here's a couple more pics. I changed the eyes slightly, added some detail to the hello kitty trinket, and fixed a couple skintone things that were bothering me. The lighting is different, trying to decide which lighting I like better, this one looks a bit more true to what is looks like 'in real life'.
Let me know what you guys think.

Really cool paintjob. Would love to see what the rest of her command squad would look like.
