I'm a bit surprised that there isn't a thread about this yet, but ...

War of the Vikings alpha registration

This is a sequel, or probably rather a spin-off, to the War of the Roses. It'll involve lots of beards (supposedly you can unlock longer/prettier beards at higher levels ) and focus on battles between Vikings and Saxons on the fields of Britannia, with lots of customisation. I'll probably reserve judgement until I've taken a closer look myself, as the basic idea still sounds very close to the multiplayer of Mount & Blade (just with prettier graphics, which I do not need that much), but perhaps they will introduce a couple interesting new features or it'll just "feel" better. My curiosity is at least sufficiently large to let me register for the alpha, and if the same goes for you, feel free to support my registration using the above link (in true snowball principle, recruiting 5 people will supposedly net me guaranteed access).

Tried the Alpha (got an invite in email while back). Not really impressed, it's just reskinned war of the roses AFAIK.

That's what I thought, even how it was announced, in a way.

Not having played War of the Roses, though .. is it any good? Compared to, say, Mount & Blade?
