From my experiance with the new GW washes they are terrible. In areas where the wash has gathered deeply it doesnt get a dark rich colour it goes a tinted grey blotchy colour. As with the rest of the washed areas it goes blotchy and dull. Rather than the last series of GW washes which worked fine. Is there anything I should be adding to the washes to prevent this? I will post pictures if the explination is unclear.

after trying out a lot of their stuff, it looks like army painter now sells the old GW paint that was most recently replaced.
if you like the old washes get the army painter soft/strong/dark tone inks. 18mls, dropper bottles, exactly the same stuff that GW was selling as sepia/devlan/badab.

kind of funny that for 18mls army painter sells it for almost half the price that GW would sell 11mls of exactly the same paint made by the same French company.

As for the new GW washes. shake the crap out of them and don't over apply. They are not bad. their seraphim sepia is a really strong, really nice vibrant brown tint and looks totally different than gryphone sepia. Mostly they are good. Cassandra yellow can do some amazing things. The ones that I wont be buying again either because they suck or because army painter inks do it better are aggrax, nuln and carroburg crimson.

I have had no problems with them so far, however as a rule of thumb I shake all my GW paints really well before use. As for the wash themselves I have had no problems but I have found that applying some wash waiting for it to dry abit then putting another layer solves some colour issues that can occur.

(don't rule out the fact you might have a bad pot perhaps?)

I can say that I have all the new gw washes, and have not been happy with them.

But, just as the poster above said, at least you can get a couple of the old washes in the army painter brand.

In fact, here is a great review where they compare the new army painter "inks" to the old gw washes.

I have used them and can report they are matches for the old washes (which I have used on most of my armies).

best of luck!
